  • Learning new skills in generative AI with help from Google

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.      Just about anyone in any job can benefit from adding new skills in using generative AI…and Google is offering help through a partnership with Coursera.        It is called Google AI Essentials and the company’s Andrea Willis says..

“This is a ten hour course that’s going to teach people foundational AI skills, AI best practices and how to use AI responsibly.   So, it’s for people regardless of their industry or their job and it’s really going to help them to use AI in their day to day.  After people finish this course, they get a certificate that they can share with their professional network.”

The cost is 49 dollars…but there are scholarships available.    Find more at grow.google.com.

  • OnePlus Watch 2 arrives with impressive battery life

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. The OnePlus Watch 2 has arrived …delivering multi-day battery life in a Wear OS device. That alone is a pretty big deal. And while there is no option for a stand alone cellular connection, there is dual frequency GPS tracking and an AMOLED display. The OnePlus Watch 2 is nicely styled…but some may find it large for smaller wrists. We’ve seen the price at OnePlus.com as low as 270 dollars….with free Buds 3 headphones and fifty dollars off when you trade in any watch in any condition. If you are looking for a smart watch and a decent pair of ear buds…that is a deal worth pursuing. OnePlus is a Chinese manufacturer that has been delivering some impressive devices to consumers for more than a decade.

  • OnePlus 12R delivers big features at moderate price

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. A quality smartphone that won’t break the bank. That is what OnePlus delivers with the 12R. It features an aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 over a 6.78 inch display at a price that starts at just five hundred dollars. You can double the storage to 256 GB and RAM to 16 GB for a hundred dollars more. The 50 megapixel main camera is impressive…even up against some of the bigger names..Apple, Samsung and Google. And while OnePlus left out wireless charging capability…the battery life…in a word…is great. Chalk up a very big plus. The OnePlus ecosystem also includes a new smartwatch and earbuds. More on those in my next report. Learn more at www.OnePlus.com.
