Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  Apple’s iPhones…especially the latest….do an amazing job taking pictures.  But they can do even more with apps created by a couple of guys behind Lux Optics.  The latest…Spectre Camera…was named one of the top apps of the year by Apple not long ago.  Co founder Ben Sandofsky..

“It’s designed for taking long exposures.  So you take a photograph over several seconds…and this is great for removing crowds from busy spots, it’s great for creating beautiful, painterly waterfalls.  It’s really a great app.”

Yes it is.  And it allows you to take those long exposures without the use of a tripod.  You can find Spectre Camera in the Apple app store for about two dollars.  If you like taking pictures.. it’s a steal.

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  Another New Year’s resolution for your consideration.  Backing up all of those documents you have stored…including those hundreds…maybe thousands of photos and videos.  If you are looking for a solution the pros have relied on ….Drobo’s network attached storage devices…that can use drives of different types and sizes….combined with Retrospect software….will automate the whole process.  Set it up once…and Retrospect and Drobo will take care of the rest.  And the Drobo dashboard keeps you informed about the health of your back up drives.  About the software, GM JG Heithcock says…

“You can back up locally …which is a much faster restore…but then you can transfers up to the cl oud or some other off site venue.”

Retrospect has been trusted for decades…and works with Windows…Mac computers and more.
