  • An alternative to OEM maintenance in the UCaaS era, Podcast
“So many of the assets, so many of those PBXs, are still running and working perfectly,” says Tim Kubiak, CEO of Zepol Productions Inc., (ZPI). “Even in the UCaaS world, things may never go fully to the cloud,” adds Kubiak. In this podcast, Kubiak puts a fresh take on a topic that was once a major focus for TR readers: maintenance and understanding maintenance options. In the on-prem network model, maintenance contracts with a major OEM constituted a multibillion-dollar technology market. Third party vendors lined up with alternative packages. As the cloud has grown, that market became less visible, but as we learn, it did not go away. Neither has the equipment it served. Kubiak explains how his company can help with over one hundred brands of equipment in both data and telecom, but with a fresh approach that includes a better understanding of assets, asset utilization, replacement, and proper end of life issues in an era where security and proper disposal are mandated in most firms. Kubiak wants to make end users, carriers and the channel aware of what ZPI can help with the migration of workers to home, the integration of cloud services, but where a lot of traffic continues to “touch” long installed equipment. Getting the maintenance numbers right is a vital part of that bigger picture.

  • Enreach builds a strong brand in the European market based on combining telco, software, business savvy and vision, Podcast
“We are both a telco and a software provider,” says Stijn Nijhuis, CEO of Enreach. In the cloud and collaboration era, where silos are disdained and combined experiences expected, Enreach brings expertise in several markets and disciplines to multiple national European markets, to offer a unique partner that simply knows and understands each regional economy and each technology in play. You can work these markets on your own and you can try to bring these technologies together or consider Enreach partnership to leverage hard won knowledge and experience in each. In this podcast Nijhuis makes the case for Enreach, outlining the complexity of the vast EU, European and UK markets, explaining that significant cultural, economic, political and regulatory differences exist, even between neighboring nations. In one nation, the focus might now be entirely mobile, in another the expectation might still be to get a live person on a first attempted call, and in yet another texting and conferencing might be the concern. Despite harmonization across the EU, Enreach is reaching out to the Cloud Communications Community (CCA) with a message that finding a partner such as Enreach is a good idea as a step to success in these markets. Nijhuis sees 2022 as a year when Enreach will be seen as a company that combines many capabilities in a special way and in a market filled with new opportunities. Enreach is also acquiring companies and had success in making those acquisitions work. A cultural fit is as important to the firm as is a monetary justification.

  • Phone.com delivers enterprise grade solutions to a changing SMB market, Podcast
Company offers four flavors of channel partnership
“Customers are looking for reliability, simplicity and affordability, altogether,” says Amber Newman, Sr. Director of Marketing of Phone.com. Newman outlines how Phone.com has been meeting the new challenges facing smaller organizations and the channel partners who focus on smaller businesses. Always dedicated to the small organization market sector, Phone.com has added experiences to the solutions it provides. In the past the issue might have been saving money on real time communications. Today, it might be enabling a small restaurant to use a sophisticated approach to handling a wave of take-away food orders, creating contact center options for smaller outbound call efforts, or creating improved customer experiences for sole proprietorship practices in law, medicine, real estate and more. Newman argues that many small businesses might want to consider offering contact options beyond their mobile device’s services. She notes that the move to WFA included an uptick in demand for hardware, including desktop phones.
Phone.com today offers channel partners four types of relationships in what Newman describes as a “choose your own adventure” posture. Channel partners can be trusted advisors, expert consultants, offer prepacked technologies or be involved in putting together novel solutions. Newman discusses how Phone.com offers an express on-ramp to offer HIPPA ready solutions and how partners can offer fresh conversations with clients about ramping up texting for many business uses. This podcast features Phone.com as a member of the Cloud Communications Alliance.

  • Console Connect NaaS Platform Pulls Together Unlock Rich Options, Podcast
DRaaS, Disaster Recovery as a Service emerges as a new approach to the old problem of business continuity
The widespread adoption of the cloud has transformed the way applications are developed just as much as it has transformed the way they are deployed and consumed. In this podcast we look at how Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) can help developers support the complete application lifecycle by unlocking the value of PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service). In this podcast we explore the three key benefits of a cloud environment - flexibility, scalability, and speed - extend quite nicely to app development and have helped developers perpetuate transformative ways of working through concepts such as Agile and DevOps. Garrett Lowell, VP, Ecosystem Partnerships and Jay Turner, VP of Development and Operations, both of Console Connect discuss the revolution of the PaaS model, and the giant trend of buying network services by the use unit verses by the pound. Lowell and Turner discuss the changes occurring in work, and the corresponding changes the IT and UC worlds are making to offer enterprises scalable solution abroad a broad band of product types and newly integrated approaches to once siloed experiences. “Now you have a happier workforce that’s going to be more productive,” notes Lowell.
Turner discusses a term that might be new to reader and listeners of this podcast, DRaaS. “I see a huge untapped market,” says Turner, explaining that cloud delivered DRaaS offers an unprecedented way to recover and continue mission critical enterprise operations that save companies money in the preparatory stages and yet offer a more effective bounce back after disruption when compared to legacy approaches.

  • SMS/texting 10DLC offers opportunity and risk, Podcast
VCA to host Webinar on 10DLC
Ten-digit long code, 10DLC, could offer terrific opportunities for cloud providers. It also opens the door to liability. “They (the cloud providers) need to find ways that they can still offer these services to their customers and avoid getting hit with penalties and having their customer’s text messages blocked,” said Linda McReynolds, an attorney for the telecom and tech sector and is Of Counsel to Marashlian and Donahue. In this podcast we learn how 10DLC holds the possibility of making long term, numbers that companies have held into renewed and trusted communications tools. Companies will be able to text customers and partners with these numbers, and recipients will be able to call or text back. However, in the name of restricting unwanted spam text messaging, U.S. wireless carriers are requiring businesses to register with The Campaign Registry. Carriers have committed to blocking text messages originating from businesses that are not registered or imposing steep fines for failure to register campaigns and associated numbers. We learn that getting number registered is not free. And we also learn that this all activity occurring in advance of full government regulatory oversight. The Campaign Registry is not a governmental organization; this is an industry-created organization established to vet business text message campaigns. Texting is central to the current era of communications and understanding 10DLC is a first step to success with this development. McReynolds will be participating in an upcoming Cloud Communications Alliance webinar on February 22.

  • Mavenir’s cloud division broadens company’s horizons, offers new opportunities, Podcast
According to Kevin Nethercott, Global VP Sales and Partner Engagement at Mavenir, the recent acquisition of Telestax has enabled Mavenir to go from offering solutions “by the tanker” to solutions “by the drip”. Two hundred and fifty of the world’s largest carriers utilize Mavenir’s gear. Something like 60% of the worlds text messages make their way each day through Mavenir. Now, with the Telestax acquisition, a company known for big scale carrier solutions is also in front of the community with scalable cloud solutions. “We have set up a contact center with over two hundred agents, in three nations… in under 36 hours,” says Tony Pereira, SVP of Enterprise Solutions Strategy and Partnerships. Pereira notes how cloud offers super efficiency, with customers buying what they need, avoiding costly and complex installations and launches, all delivered in an amount of time that was simply impossible outside of a cloud approach. Pereira adds that the CPaaS approach enables the channel to bring together texting and new approaches to the contact center, even while the contact center is a team of agents distributed over a vast area and across time zones. “We’re at a pivot point,” adds Pereira noting that only the cloud approach offers the channel to help their customers modernize, rethink, and recharge their contact centers and other communication tools. Today’s customer and worker have new expectations, and the new Mavenir, combining strengths in two markets, is offering their channel group new opportunities to reinvent what they mean to their customers.
