  • You can still do something about STIR/SHAKEN, Podcast
Robocalling is no small problem. These nuisance calls continue to burden consumers, with some estimates suggesting that more than 22B robocalls have been made in 2021 alone. And while the FCC’s upcoming mandates are a significant first step, it might not be enough to mitigate every robocall. With time running out, Ribbon Communications’ VP of Technology Jaimie Gibson connected with Telecom Reseller to discuss the state of the FCC’s mandate for STIR/SHAKEN and Originating Robocall Mitigation, what VoIP service providers who haven’t acted yet can do to meet the June 30 deadline and ways to future proof networks against robocalls.

Ribbon Communications is one of the company’s at the forefront of robocall mitigation. In fact, Intrado recently tapped the company to protect customers from robocalls and adhere to the FCC’s mandate to implement the STIR/SHAKEN standard by June 30, 2021.

In this podcast, Gibson reports that Ribbon is standing by to help those still racing towards the deadline. Gibson shares what providers need to know to get started today and future insights, including:

Various options available to meet the FCC’s June 30 deadline
Reasons the FCC is discussing the possibility of pushing the deadline for some small VoIP providers ahead a year
Implications of not meeting the FCC’s mandate, such as losing the ability to pass network traffic
Steps both small and large service providers need to take to future proof their networks against robocalls

Softthinks is software that offers resellers a path to do just about everything that needs to be done to be done, at the programming level, to ready equipment for resale. “We’re all in one,” says, Dave Maik, of Softthinks. “This speeds up the process and removes a lot of error potential.” Maik describes his special software package as a “ray of sunshine” for the reseller because all the steps to safely and properly ready gear to be deployed by a new user, are all in one place. In this podcast, Maik offers a big view of his company and their offerings to the secondary market. Maik points out how Softthinks delivers convenience, affordability, and certification. Softthinks is a recently joined member of the ASCDI and reflects the organization’s commitment to setting the highest standards for best practices in the handling, processing, reselling or properly discontinuing previously deployed equipment. • Focus on Your Expenses During National Photography Month, Podcast
Take A Photo and Save a Buck: How National Photography Month, UCaaS and Cutting Costs and Connected

In a first for the TR Podcast Show, we discuss how National Photography Month and focusing on your IT and UC expenses are connected. In this podcast Bob Norberg, CMO Cloud Age Solutions, reminds us that when we take a photo, we capture a moment in a manner that we sometimes can miss in real time. The lens can capture what our minds can miss. Similarly, how easy is it, even with the best practices and good intentions in place, companies can begin to literally not see expenses that are no longer reflecting current needed services. Step by step, from viewing things with news eyes, organize the photos (and data), educate (and learn more), to setting goals, we see that cost management is more than finding hidden costs, although identifying buried expenses is part of the story. This journey enables an IT professional or an IT team to get a new view of what they are doing and the how and why of the moving parts. Take a photo, save some money and learn even more.

  • VoIP.ms launches new partner program, Podcast
“Bring your own device, or bring your own solution,” says Philippe L'H Thiffeault, Sales Director of VoIP.ms. Thiffeault explains that VoIP.ms can be used as either a hosted PBX or as a SIP Trunking provider. In this podcast we learn how this very diversified company has been rolling out a new partner program. According to Thiffeault, the program received over two hundred responses not long after its launch. “It was really well received,” said Thiffeault. We learn that the program is simple, comprehensive, and easy to assume for the partner. According to Thiffeault a key benefit is how VoIP.ms can take care of billing and tax issues, which can be complex, time consuming and expensive to administer. “Its an easier way to offer VoIP services, where they can install those services, and after that we take care of everything related to billing and tax services.” The hiring of a tax consultant alone can chew into the profits of many deployments. This program basically bypasses that eventuality and streamlines the administrative and back-office issues, freeing the MSP to basically sell more.
