  • Podcast: I3Forum helps international carriers focus on needed technology while pooling resources to accomplish goals
The International IT Interconnection is what i3Form stands for. Philippe Millet, Chairman of the i3forum, goes on to say to Don Witt of The Channel Daily News, that it consists of the international carrier industry which is also known as wholesale. They are looking to change and improve – technologies in hand, a transformation of the business model, the processes, products and services, basically everything that can help the industry transform itself as quickly as possible.

    Philippe Millet

The communications industry is going through a massive change in technology at every level and the i3forum brings together the innovators to establish new technology direction that can be followed by carriers without the bandwidth, personnel or funding to accomplish the challenge on their own.

We are going through a time period that will prove to be very beneficial to the consumer, but more complex for the carrier.  It is also a time where revenue models must change to increase revenues in the future.

The i3forum is a not-for-profit, membership funded forum. It is not a standardization body. It works closely with other Industry organizations, avoiding duplication of work and focusing on actionable practical recommendations and solutions for the International Carriers industry.

The i3forum values the diversity of its membership. It strives to take an unbiased, holistic approach – factoring in the multiple technical, operational, business angles from the perspective of the various types of stakeholders.

  • Podcast: NVT Phybridge Simplifies IP Modernization for Healthcare Organizations Podcast
In his podcast, part of a series, we examine how NVT Phybridge simplifies IP modernization for healthcare organizations. Julian Kennedy Healthcare, Hospitality and Retail Vertical Specialist, outlines how healthcare organizations, struggling with aging and stubborn infrastructure can face sky high prices to re-cable and then add equipment. There can be disruption caused by renovations, disturbance to patients and loss of valuable space, not to mention challenging network issues such as IDF closet requirements (backup power, cooling, rack space). Kennedy explains how using Modern LAN principles and NVT Phybridge PoE innovations, organizations can leverage existing infrastructure to eliminate rip-and-replace requirements.  Long-reach capabilities and SmartPathPoE technology ensures secure and robust point-to-point topology at long distances – no need for costly IDF’s that complicate the network. The approach offers a lower cost and simple and fast to connect your new IP endpoints back to the application.

  • Podcast: Telecom community needs to be involved to fight human trafficking
Throughout the twenty-first century, communications technology has been touted as a transformative force for good, ending isolation and instantly connecting people on many levels. There is however a dark side. The same technologies that bring distant markets and people together are being used to enable human trafficking. In this podcast, Dr. Joanna Rubinstein, President and CEO of World Childhood Foundation (WCF) USA and a commissioner of the ITU/UNESCO Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development, discusses how the telecom industry, unintentionally, plays a role in this disturbing problem and discusses some remedies. Telecom companies will want to take steps not play host.

Rubinstein was recently appointed as a commissioner of the ITU/UNESCO Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development. She serves on numerous boards/committees, including the board of The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, the UN World Tourism Organization’s Network on Child Protection in Travel and Tourism, the Leadership Council of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the steering committee of the ECD and Peace Building Consortium, and on the board of International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation (ISTIC) under the auspices of UNESCO.
