  • 3 Steps to Future-Proof Your Nortel Investments
    by Gary Audin

Do you want a vendor specific or vendor neutral Unified Communications solution? In today’s environment you want a software defined solution not based on a specific hardware platform. Therefore you need to find software that is interoperable with any platform. Wouldn’t it be great to move the same software and user experience to new hardware as you retire the old hardware or scale to a larger operation? The decision will affect the enterprise, VAR, MSP, and consultant.

Hardy Myers, CEO and President of AVST www.avst.com and Gary Audin discuss software only UC solutions in this EDUcast. Hardy speaks of the trend of software UC solutions and their flexibility to operate on many platforms. He discusses different delivery models for UC from telecom incumbents, IT incumbents, service providers and integrators, and pure play providers all of which may be part of the enterprise solution. Interoperability is therefore paramount.

    What you will learn:

    Emerging Influencers/Trends Impacting UC Decisions
    Immediate Security and Compliance Concerns
    for Nortel Customers
    Enhance Your Nortel Environment with
    Next-Generation UC Features
    Future-Proof your Nortel Infrastructure
    to Facilitate Evolution

UC solutions should include flexible and secure unified messaging, speech-based call processing, contextually aware personal assistant, powerful UC mobile clients, and advanced notification and information access solutions that integrate with the databases of your organization.

The broadest interoperability suite in the communications industry serves as the foundation of our best-of-breed UC solutions. By connecting new and existing communications technologies, AVST facilitates the migration of your enterprise to the Cloud, IP, and Microsoft Skype4B. AVST maintains relationships with virtually all of the major premise and cloud communications technology providers to ensure that your UC solutions and your business are always “future-proofed.”

  • No more lost calls when in buildings 200,000 square feet when they use the new Quatra technology from Cel-FI and Nextivity
Werner Sievers, President and CEO of Cel-FI and CEO of Nextivity, discusses the release of QUATRA, a smart signal booster from within a building to the normal cellular signal with Don Witt of The Channel Daily News from Telecom Reseller. Utilizing a star design, the technology will provide support for an area from 10,000 to 200K square feet.

    Common places of deployment are:
    •    Hospitals
    •    Warehouses
    •    Hospitality environment
    •    Industrial environment
    •    High Tech
    •    Other types of buildings

Supporting multiple types of technology from IoT, Cellular, & WiFi, the Quatra will take advantage of 5G as it evolves. Security of the product is as secure as the normal cellular technology.

Speed of deployment and personnel needed to install QUATRA is an advantage for Cel-FI.  Cel-FI designed QUATRA to me mass installed.  The Radio Frequency expert is no longer needed. The traditional IT personnel will be able to deploy the devices in short order.

Cel-Fi QUATRA is a self-configuring system built on award-winning Cel-Fi Smart Signal Booster® technology, which is unconditionally network safe, and approved for use by carriers on their networks. Cel-Fi QUATRA is specifically designed for easy installation. Unlike typical DAS systems that can require between 12 and 24 months for deployment from start to finish, Cel-Fi QUATRA can be ordered, delivered, installed, and operational in a matter of weeks—and at a lower installed cost per sq. ft. Cel-Fi QUATRA achieves this by eliminating much of the complexity associated with delivering in-building coverage.

Cel-Fi QUATRA is comprised of a Network Unit (NU), which contains the antennas that receive the donor cellular signal; and the Coverage Unit (CU), which contains actively powered antennas that transmit the cellular signal throughout the venue to users. Cel-Fi QUATRA offers exceptional value and optimal performance when installed off-air or tethered to a small cell.

  • Why you need an end-to-end segmentation strategy
We are effectively living in the middle of a cybercrime wave, with cyberattacks are reaching an average of 160 per week per organization. In research, conducted by VeraQuest and commissioned by Avaya, showed that virtually all 400 IT professionals responding to the survey agree that end-to-end segmentation is an essential security measure. But only one in four say their organization implements it.  According to the report, reasons for not using end-to-end segmentation include complexity (35%), lack of resources (29%), didn’t know it was possible (22%) or too risky to the rest of the network (22%).

In this podcast, Randy Cross, Senior Director of PLM for Fabric and Infrastructure Products gives us a look at why so many enterprise managers are not fully deploying an “end-to-end segmentation strategy”and we discuss a path forward to take needed action. We also learn about the security issues end-to-end segmentation helps solve.
