Dr. Johanna Dillenbeck is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) specializing in healing trauma from relational betrayal and addiction. She is trained in attachment-focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (AF-EMDR) and sex addiction therapy and is a certified Clinical Partner Specialist (CCPS-APSATS). She owns Safe Space Mental Health Counseling, where she supervises interns and provides in-person and telehealth therapy to individuals and couples.
Dr. Dillenbeck holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in NYC and a Ph.D. from Liberty University in Virginia. Her research focuses on complex trauma, shame, religiosity, hypersexuality, and compulsive sexual behavior.
Before her mental health career, she spent over 25 years developing inclusive education settings as an urban special educator and administrator. She has taught at all levels, from pre-K to graduate school. She lives in Long Island, New York, with her husband, Ken.
