  • Ep 57 Black Love Is Black Liberation
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 57 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Black Love is Black Liberation.” Honey!!! After a weekend of Black movies, Akoma and Black Love, I’ve got plenty to talk about.
In this episode I’ll try my best to sum up my emotions about “Judas and the Black Messiah.” Let me just tell you, it had me all up in my feelings! If there was ever a movie about Black Love, Black History, and Black betrayal, this one is it. It covered love from so many angles that my heart is still full from it! No worries, I won’t give any spoilers.
I also give a brief description of the Akoma Adinkra symbol as a guidepost for future discussions (and understandings) about love. I’d love to hear what you think!
After you tune in, let me know what you think of this episode by leaving me a 5 star review! Please, and thank you (smile).
    Take care ya’ll! #tellemtiptoldyou

  • Ep 56 Black Luxury And Educational Autonomy
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 56 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Black Luxury and Educational Autonomy.”
In this episode I provide some updates regarding our February book club on
Keenga-Yamahtta Taylor’s How We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective. Our first book discussion will be held on February 17,2021 at 9:00pm EST. Details will be sent out to the email list.
I caught bits and pieces of a social media conversation on Black luxury that I just had to weigh in on. I might sound like I’m contradicting myself a lot in that segment because I think that whatever position one takes on the discussion, deeper reflection is necessary. Give it a listen and let me know what you think!
If education is your thing (and it should be!), I want you to become familiar with the American Legislative Exchange Council and watch out to see what it may be up to.
Finally, I offer some of my thoughts about Black History Month itself.
After you tune in, let me know what you think of this episode by leaving me a 5 star review! Please, and thank you (smile).

  • Ep 55 2021 Is Here - -now What?
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 55 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"2021 is Here—Now What?”
In this episode I explore the idea that while 2020 was a year that caused us to see things we’d previously (either) not seen (or tried not to see), 2021 is asking us what we’re now going to do with that vision.
I’ll also share with you about my plans for Black History Month and will invite you in on a few things. The book I mentioned for the book club is Keenga-Yamahtta Taylor’s How We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective.

  • Ep 54- Faith To Start The New Year
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 54 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Faith to Start the New Year.” Ya’ll this one was fun to record. I got to finally sit down with one of my besties, Brandon Simmons, to do some mid-life musings (you’ll catch that reference once you tune in). Needless to say, over 25 years of friendship ended up in an episode that will take you from thinking about mortality to celebrating your potential and every little thing in between.
Also in this episode you’ll here a married man and a not yet married woman talk about fidelity and open relationships so you don’t want to miss this.

  • Ep 53 Making Room For Self
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 53 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Making Space for Self.”
Honey!!! Between Radha Blank’s 40 Year Old Version and Misha Greene’s LoveCraft Country Season Finale, I was all up in my feelings this weekend. Today’s episode unpacks some of those feelings with you.
Also in this episode I give you my opinions about O’shea Jackson and 45’s Platinum Plan foolishness! Here’s a hint: having money does not equal political prowess. Smdh.
My favorite part of this episode has to be the interview with two of my favorite Porch Women Latrise and Denise Johnson. These twins are superstars in the field of education and have dedicated themselves to creating autonomous spaces to teach our students the things needed for holistic success. If you’re interested in joining them or learning more about their work, you can reach them at the [email protected]. If you’re looking for Denise’s help in supporting your learner, you can email her at [email protected].

  • Ep 52 I Am That I Am
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 52 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Im That I Am.” This episode was scratched up out of me by recent episodes of HBO’s LoveCraft Country and foolishness related to the abuse of Black Women.
In this episode I will encourage you to live beyond your fears of limitation and to learn to recognize that you’ve been made to feel less than you truly are. If you’re afraid to let your light shine, make sure you give this a listen!
After you tune in, let me know what you think of this episode by leaving me a 5 star review! Please, and thank you (smile).

  • Ep 49- Center In Self - 7:13:20, 10.38 AM
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 49 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Centering in Self.” Pulling on history and scenes from the BET Awards show, I argue that we must become more self-centered in our resistance to systems that oppress.

  • Ep 48 Stop Trying To Be An Instant Success
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 48 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"Stop Trying to Be An Instant Success.” This episode is equal parts rant and equal parts warning. Pulling on history, I argue that we must be more patient in all of our learning and doing. I also make the distinction between Black businesses and businesses owned by Black people. They are NOT the same.

  • The Existential Crisis Of Not Thinking
    Hey ya’ll hey!
Thanks for tuning into Episode 46 of Tellemtiptoldyou—"The Existential Crisis of Not Thinking.”
I’m sick and tired of folks not spending time thinking before creating hashtags, social media memes, and “think pieces” that exhibit absolutely NO critical thinking. Listen, if we want to truly get “free,” then we have to think deeply and critically about what that even means. Here’s a hint: it cannot mean centering your behavior on a need to be validated by people that don’t care about you.
This one might make you mad. I hope it at least makes you think. Let me know either way.
