Hock shares his brilliant plan with the group. He leads them into the lab under the pretense of taking them fishing in the lake.
But, instead of fishing, he guides them through a secret entrance long forgotten into the old maintenance tunnels. Unfortunately, not everyone was dressed for such an escapade. The stakes are high on this, so they have to be careful. This could be their way in to find the object, but it could also be their grave.

Darren texts Annabelle to let her know that they are all going ‘fishing’ at the lab.
Hock is upset because he doesn't know why exactly they are doing this, much less why they are involving someone he believes is genuinely nice. He wants to make sure everyone makes it out of this okay and doesn’t know if he can protect everyone.
Annabelle pulls up as Bart is getting a magical read of the area, highlighting the spooky shadow of Vejigante.

The hunters gather in the local Waffle House to catch Darren, our Mundane, up on what all has been going on. They end up terrorizing the other person on shift, a talented cook named Steve, but eventually, they get Darren up to speed on what they have learned so far.
Bart explains that he believes he can remove the corruption from the protector spirit, but he may need the others’ help. He also goes through a list of things that could happen during the ritual and which ones to worry about. Roz takes detailed notes, of course.
After the creature has been saved, their next task will be finding the mysterious Object 51, which they are sure is in the lab. They don’t know what it is but they do know that whenever the scientist messes with it, the creature is affected. So once they cleanse the spirit, they will need to break into the lab to nullify the object.
They are going to need to case the lab to find a way in, and Hock has a plan. They all load up and start driving to the lab. On the way, Hock asks Darren about a job he needs Darren to do. It is potentially dangerous, but they both need the money. If this current job works out, though, he may no longer need Darren to do this dangerous thing.
Meanwhile, Bart and Roz are trying to figure out fishing terms.

In her apartment, Roz is able to download and print a series of maps sent by one of her net friends. They all focus on the lab; one showing heat signatures, radiation levels, and anomalies. Bart examines her extensive conspiracy wall while the maps print, noticing a few events that were related to him casting magic.
Meanwhile, Hock and Annabelle talk about their interest in this job. Annabelle shares a bit of her story, being kicked out and landing in Oak Ridge. She once wanted to be a diplomat, now she teaches kindergarten.
Bart and Roz show up at the tail end of the conversation and they begin making their way to the office of Dr Michelle Clark, a former scientist. On the way there, Hock and Roz examine the maps and notice a correlation between radiation spikes and the ‘anomalies’ but they aren’t able to suss anything else out.
Dr. Clark explains that her reason for leaving the lab was she did not sign up for the kind of experiments they were doing. Now she worries that we are seeing the consequences of those experiments. Its an awkward conversation but they convince her to help some. So she prints off some papers and tucks them into the book.
The papers contain logs of when an object was experimented on, as well as a record of creature sightings. There is definitely a correlation there. If things continue along the same pattern, they have until Monday to come up with a plan.
The book was a chronicle of the failed time travel experiments.

After getting what information they can from Brooke, the hunters make their way into the cafeteria. There they find Damien, the security guard who was on duty when Brooke was attacked. His account of the incident matched hers, for the most part. He only saw it as it ran away but describes it as moving like a bobcat.
Hock takes a minute to catch up with an old friend in the cafeteria. The conversation confirms that strange things have been happening in and around the lab for a long time.
Damien begins to get agitated so the party decides it is time to search elsewhere. They decide to spit up to gather supplies before meeting up at the local community college. There they hope to find someone who used to work in the lab.
Hock and Annabelle go to his pawnshop to gather supplies while Roz tags along with Bart.
Using a summoning ritual, Bart calls upon a local nature spirit to see what he can learn about the creature being impacted by the bad vibes he noticed at the lab.

We meet our group of hunters in a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant, the Magic Wok, also known as Mrs. Betty’s. They have gathered there after responding to a posting offering a reward to whoever can deal with a creature that has been stalking the lab. Apparently, the creature attacked someone recently and one Dr. Benjamin Whaley is interested in making sure it doesn’t harm anyone else.
They discuss what little they know of the situation before deciding to go to Dr. Whaley’s house to get more information. There they get the name of Brooke Fletcher, the woman who was attacked. He mentions that his granddaughter informed him of the situation and that she will be able to get them passes to enter the lab and talk to Brooke.
So they load up once more, this time to drive to the lab. Bart and Roz spend a lot of time discussing aliens and debating if Star Trek is a documentary. Hock asks Annabelle about her interest in the job, given that it is not often a preschool teacher decides to hunt monsters.
While in the lab, Bart picks up on some weird vibes. These are leftovers from corrupting magic that doesn’t belong, originating from deep within the lab. It could possibly be the cause of whatever is going on.
They are able to get some information from Brooke (eventually), mostly detailing what the creature looked like. It is obvious that she does not want to talk about it, and that she doesn’t trust them very much.

The Secret City. The Atomic City. The City Behind a Fence. Oak Ridge has always been a strange place. A little podunk town near the foothills of the Appalachian mountains that no one paid attention to until the government decided to transform it into something new. It became part of the Manhattan project, the site where they enriched the uranium for the atomic bombs. Life in Oak Ridge still heavily revolves around science and the functions of the lab, even though few know what really goes on there.
In our present day, more and more time anomalies and unplanned temporal events are occurring in the towns surrounding these sites. Where are these anomalies coming from? What is causing them? And what could they possibly mean for this odd little town?
