Tendy Talk

For Episode 34 of Tendy Talk presented by the BLPA Podcast Network, I chat with Corey Brenner of The Goalie Guru. If you are not familiar with The Goalie Guru it is a small device you adhere to the paddle of your goalie stick to give you greater control over your stick. We learn on the podcast that it all started with taping a rock to the paddle.

I first became aware of the Goalie Guru when Andy from The Hockey Arsenal gave me one of the first generation models at the inaugural SotaStick Hockey Classic. I tried the device and wrote a product review soon after.

Find out how Corey came up with the idea for The Goalie Guru and some of the iterations on this week's podcast episode. We also talk about how he got into the game, why he choose to be a goalie and his philosophy of "You do you."

For Episode 32 of Tendy Talk presented by the BLPA Podcast Network, I chat with Trish Dangle of the BLPA Big Show. Trish is a part-time goalie, having picked up the position as an adult. It was fun learning why she put the pads on, picking on Nick from the BLPA, and just getting to know her better.

For Episode 31 of Tendy Talk presented by the BLPA Podcast Network, I chat with Chris Jenkins of the UK Goalie Network. I came across Chris on Instagram and became intrigued with hockey in the UK. Hockey over there interests me because my grandmother grew up in England, and on a family trip in 1996 I meet a fellow in the neighborhood pub who was a big hockey fan. We talk about hockey every night. My uncle even drove us about an hour and a half to a rink so we could go to open skate. It was nice to learn that hockey - while a small niche sport in the country - has a talented and dedicated following that appears to be growing.

Enjoy the episode.

Episode 26 of Tendy Talk I chat with Essan Galo of the Bay Area Hockey Repair Shop in San Jose, California. This was a long conversation that's broken up into two parts that Essan said should be titled 'Don't Mind the ADD'. Our goalie ADD aside, we talked about Essan's journey from growing up in the Philippines to discovering hockey, not telling his mom he was playing, to starting his equipment repair business - and a few other things in between. Enjoy this two-part episode.
