Close to 400 4-H’ers, volunteers and staff have been participating in the 96th annual Tennessee 4-H Round Up this week on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Farmers here in Tennessee and across the country that depend on migrant labor to help on their farms are encouraged by the new proposal to reform the nation’s guest worker program.

When the 2019 TN YF&R Young Farmers and Ranchers State Committee heard that King’s Daughters’ School in Maury County applied for a grant with USDA but unfortunately were turned down, they knew they needed to help. So, they sought out building the school a raised garden.

Along the Mississippi River counties in West Tennessee, farmers have been dealing with flood waters for several months now, actually since last fall.

Decatur County’s Kurt Holbert is leading the 13-member Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission as chairman of the organization that oversees the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
