This minor cannabinoid has an interesting pharmacological profile! Similar to THC and CBD, CBC is organically synthesized by the cannabis plant! This is done via enzymatic changes to the CBGa found in the resin glands! While this cannabinoid is structurally similar to THC and CBD, it does not exhibit the same activity on the CB 1 + 2 receptor sites. Instead it seems to modulate the metabolism and effect profiles of other cannabinoids. In particular it is shown to increase the levels of THC in the brain of mice according to this pharmacological evaluation! This is very interesting for all of my fellow high tolerance pals!

This past weekend I went out to Colorado in hopes of experiencing something completely new! At the end of last year, @zootedsolventlesshi recommended that I get tickets to attend Coffee & Donuts To Go Tour! So I did, and it was a great decision. This event was presented by @simp.lee.adam & @thehashishinn and if you’re interested at all in making hash, I recommend you come check out their future dates! Here’s a some of the stuff I learned and experienced! 

• Talks on the resin cycle. This is the lifecycle of the trichome which contains the resins that hash makers seek. This cycle is broken down into 4 sections. 1. Cultivation 2. Resin separation 3. Drying the resin (air vs freeze). Both have pros and cons but for most people, freeze drying will create a more consistent product. 4. Post processing each panel featured a Q&A that helped to clarify what was discussed. 
• An astounding amount of resin tastings, with talks from the hash makers on their processes to create and their intentions for their final products. It’s hard for me to narrow it down to a favorite, but I will say some very memorable flavors were the Redpop X Sunset Sherb by @meltwaukee (Afghan-esque high and red cream soda terps), Papaya x Z28 by @terp_wizard (?)(I was zoinked at this point), Trop Cherry Fresh Press by @mile_high_melts (super heavy anthocyanin content), and Beach Wedding jar A by @resinance.solventless (strong rose petal terps) 
• Excellent food and hash pairings presented by @itsgroovygravy! Two of my favorites were Dablogic’s future diesel paired with a Rigatoni w Mushroom Bolognese Gorgonzola Dolce paired w pine nuts and the Banana Pez by @zootedsolventlesshi paired with a coconut rum chocolate chip cookie. When I have the chance again, I need to go to another groovy gravy event. For someone who really appreciates the diverse flavor profiles that can be created with hash/rosin, pairing them with delicious food is a no brainer! Plus having all that food keeps you going through all the dabs. 
• I got to step outside of my comfort zone and meet new people! One of the most important things when it comes to building a brand is getting yourself out into the community and demonstrating the value that you can provide!

Here are my top three lessons that I have learned while building Terpene therapy as a concept, podcast, and business!

The value of perseverance - continuing to show up each week to research, experience, record, and publish these episodes has built foundation of consistency and self-education. Maintaining consistent focus towards an idea that you deem valuable will create positive results! 

The value of social connection - once you have your idea, it is crucial to build a network of people in your field who share the same passions and ethics that you share. Plus, on a human level instead of a business mindset, developing connections is good for your experience of life! You never know what you’ll learn! 

Not all cannabis that looks and smells good, is good - This is the difference between the highest quality and what is known as “greedy weed”. After having met and learned from many farmers and hash makers over the past year, I have refined my palate to the point where I would feel confident providing a curated menu to my listeners in the near future! Ive been out adventuring around Southern California this past week and I have to say, San Diego is way less strange than LA. The traffic is also much, much better. So for this week, I wanted to share some of the terp tales from my travels! BIG SHOUTOUT TO R3TROWAVE, after being burned at the dispo for some “top shelf” planty tasting boof rosin. 

My favorite part of the trip, hands down, was going up to Joshua Tree national park! It’s roughly a 3.5 hour drive from San Diego and so worth it. The rock formations out there are truly mesmerizing and you can go bouldering if you want! There’s plenty of hiking and even just driving around is gorgeous! I also finished off my Cherry Poppers done by SuperDope. This legacy market brand definitely brought the heat with this runtz cut. If I had to make a hiking recommendation, I’d for sure go to hidden valley! The views are absolutely incredible! Arch Rock is a great location too!
