Unapologetically himself, opinionated, creative, and fiercely talented, its difficult not to love Kirk Jenkins...Albeit, at times, his raw authenticity can feel overwhelming, and sometimes even uncomfortable. For me, however, spending time with Kirk seems to highlight my own personal insecurities and the self-protection mechanism that I've built over years of social-conditioning and conformity.
As we approach another year of uncertainty, as we witness our civil liberties continue to erode,  it's no coincidence that this episode with Kirk is the first one for 2022. The term "free spirit" gets thrown around a lot these days, so my use of it in this instance is well considered.
Kirk is a "free sprit".
How you exactly define "free", I'll leave that for you to decide, but I see a freedom in Kirk that I don't see in others. I'm not talking about an inconsiderate anarchist, radical, extremist type. I'm talking about a person who is kind, empathetic, law abiding and allows a sincere vulnerability to express them self openly, without fear of judgement or ridicule, without guilt, shame or remorse.
Repeat after me, "I am free".

Kane Horspool is a father, skateboarder, environmentalist, National Parks and Wildlife employee, and the street artist know as “Trait”.  An artist for life, skateboarder, and humanitarian to his core, Kane's work is often provocative and always engaging. After 20 years of working for National Parks and working in forrest regeneration, Kane describes his artistic approach as "just sticking to what I know". This so happens to be images of Australian flora and fauna, combined with underlying themes of environmentalism, conservation and social justice issues.  As this episode unfolded, it became very apparent to me that I was conversing with a gifted, empathetic, and intense human that is leaving a legacy for generations to come. Grant Trebilco is a surfer,  mental health awareness advocate, salt water therapist, and founder of the (epic) One Wave Is All It Takes and Fluro Friday mental health and stigma reduction initiatives. Recently, I was watching a documentary about addiction and mental health and a speaker on the show said “We can turn our liabilities into assets”.  In my opinion Grant is the epitome of this statement. After years of hiding his mental health issues and battles with Bipolar disorder, Grant decided to take action, and make change in his life and the lives of others. In this week's episode, Grant is with me live from Canguu Bali, to share his journey, experiences, challenges and hopes for the future.
