Dr. Buske knows that stress can cascade into every area of your life if you don’t deal with it in a timely manner. The field of dentistry is no stranger to stress and Jeff had to learn through trial and error that neither stuffing it down or sedating it would keep it at bay. Why do we spend so much time running from and denying our stress? Collide with it early on and take away its power.
Following the retirement of his business partner, Dr. Buske reflects on all he learned from his friend and mentor. The most important lesson being that none of us are entitled, as Jeff admits he entered the world of dentistry as an entitled asshole. Not wanting to fail before he even started, Jeff had to commit to taking action every day to earn and keep his patients trust. Where in life do you fall into the trap of entitlement? Do you have the tools to get out?
This Memorial Day Dr. Buske and his wife didn’t fire up the grill or buy a new mattress, they attended a remembrance ruck. As they walked along, very aware of the additional 30 pounds on their backs, Jeff thought of the weight so many of us bear every day. He challenges listeners to ask themselves two simple questions. If we’re honest with ourselves, those answers just might be the first step in dropping that weight.
If you’re like Dr. Buske you aren’t a fan of the participation trophy generation. Jeff is proud to see that his son is outcome-driven and understands that in sports there is a winner and a loser. What about in business though? If you’re only concerned about your bottom line or winning, then your customers lose and soon enough you will start to lose too. Look for win-win situations and keep them coming back.
Did you know dentists are 2.5 times as likely to die by suicide than the general population? Dr. Jeff Buske believes it and he’s been there. After his wife told him “I didn’t sign up for this sh*t”, he knew something needed to change. Jeff has shifted how he lives his life, putting himself in a place of power and creating harmony in all areas of his life. Twice a week he’s coming at you to share mindsets, skill sets, lessons, and tools to help you grow your practice with less stress.
