Old friends. Good wine. Awkward silences. Casual viewing of death videos.
The Invitation is an independent thriller from director Karyn Kusama. Widely released in 2016 this film was produced entirely independently and then enjoyed a limited release and was scooped up by Netflix. Due to the timing of the film the original cast which included Luke Wilson, Zachary Quinto and Topher Grace was replaced with lesser known actors.
The Invitation revolves around Will and Eden - a divorced couple whose relationship ended when their child dies in a tragic accident. After two years of Eden being missing, she sends invites to her old friends for a lavish party. At the party we learn that she, her new boyfriend and their friends have all joined a cult and have a surprise for their old friends.

Turkey puns. Comically bad acting. Ancient curses. More turkey puns.
ThanksKilling is the extremely low-budget 2009 horror film from first-time director/writer Jordan Downey. Made with only about $3500 this poorly acted, poorly written and poorly filmed movie has become something of a cult classic. The sequel drew in over $110,000 in Kickstarter and ThanksKilling 3 continued the franchise with a much bigger budget while keeping the same quality acting and direction.
ThanksKilling revolves around a Native American curse that conjures up killer turkey 'Turkie'. Turkie follows and kills some students and their families on Thanksgiving break as they happen up him after 505 years of hibernation. The students attempt to band together to figure out how to defeat the invincible Turkie and free themselves from the curse.
Join the TPM crew as they debate the best holiday-themed killer in horror cinema. After settling on the beloved Jack Frost the crew along with Liz and David carve into ultra-low-budget horror cult classic 'ThanksKilling'.

Gas siphoning. Hardcore punk music. Boxcutters. Neo-Nazis.
Green Room is the third film from director Jeremy Saulnier after 2014's 'Blue Ruin' and 2007's 'Murder Party'. His career continues to be promising and one of his reasons for making 'Green Room' was that he wanted to make this very violent film before he became too renowned and wouldn't be able to make movies like that any more.
Green Room opens on the starving punk band the Ain't Rights as they tour the Pacific Northwest. Strapped for cash the band agrees to take a paying gig in a secluded venue that happens to be the home of Neo-Nazis. The band stumbles upon a horrible crime after their set and are caught in the fight of their lives trying to escape.
Join the TPM crew as they debate their Desert Island movie in their secluded podcast studio. Once they escape the debate they get around to telling Nazi punks to fuck off and discuss 2016's 'Green Room'.

Homicidal Fetuses. Rock Climbing Incidents. Fat Snakes. DJ Dan.
Prevenge is the brainchild of Alice Lowe who wrote, directed and starred in this modern slasher while eight months pregnant. Quite a feat considering that she wrote the movie in three days after no one would hire her while she was pregnant. Her movie was shot with a budget of only $100,000 and filmed in 11 days but the film is brimming with humor and symbolism.
Ruth is pregnant and alone. She has no friends, no family and the father of her child died in a horrific climbing accident. The only person she really has to talk to her the fetus growing inside her. As the pregnancy goes on Ruth talks with her fetus more and more and it demands that she kill people related to the climbing accident. Is Ruth crazy or is her fetus justified in wanting revenge?
Join the Texas Podcast Massacre crew as they head to the doctor's office to debate which voice they'd like to hear come out of their womb. Once that check-up is done they get some drinks at the podcast studio and discuss 2017's Shudder-exclusive 'Prevenge'.
