And although it can be life saving when it comes to acute issues like fractures or infections, the biggest threats today are no longer acute and medicine is starting to lose its effectiveness. They start by defining medicine, go through a brief history of medicine's evolution, and finish by discussing how modern medicine needs to shift its focus from managing symptoms to treating the root cause of disease if it's going to continue to be helpful and effective in the modern age.
