American Gods. Last year, Bryan Fuller left Star Trek: Discovery because of scheduling conflicts with another show he was developing. That show, American Gods, premiered last week. Based on the Neil Gaiman novel, American Gods tells the story of an ex-convict who becomes involved in a war between gods being fought on Earth. In this episode of Stage Nine, John and Mike take a look at the pilot for Fuller's new show. We discuss Fuller's trademarks, speculate on his reasons for leaving Discovery, and debate whether or not to continue watching past the pilot. In news, we discuss the latest round of Discovery cast members, including Rekha Sharma. Starship Mine The Enterprise is due for a baryon sweep which means it's the perfect time for the crew to get a little R&R. With no one minding the ship, it's also the perfect time for a group of terrorists to steal a deadly compound from the engines. The one person they didn't count on to thwart their plans, though, is Jean Luc Picard as Mot the Barber as John McClane. Pass the Raisinettes, Starship Mine is next on Mission Log.

Guardians of the Galaxy.
Marvel began it's movie universe in 2008 with Iron Man and since that time, it had grown exponentially in the types of heroes that populated it's films, yet nothing had truly prepared fans for where James Gunn would take us next.
In this episode of The 602 Club host Matthew Rushing is joined by Andrea Coffman to talk about Guardians of the Galaxy. We discuss our expectations, the beginning, the setting, the character, responsibility for the universe, the dance off and ratings.

Will Stape Interview.
The Original Series was a very provocative series for its time often pushing the envelope in many categories. In this episode of Standard Orbit, Will Stape joins us to discuss the portrayal of love, relationships and sexuality in TOS as examined in his recent book, "Star Trek Sex: Analyzing the Most Sexually Charged Episodes of the Original Series."
Will is also one of a select few freelance writers who sold scripts to The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine back in the days of Star Trek's open script submission policy. He shares the inspiration and production stories behind his episodes Homeward and Prophet Motive!

Dark Victory.
James T. Kirk has faced many enemies over the course of his life: Klingons, Khan, Romulans, and countless others. However, none of them will prove as worthy an opponent as his most dreaded enemy: himself! The mirror universe shows us dark reflections of ourselves, and Kirk's counterpart, Tiberius, is the deadliest of them all!
In this episode of Literary Treks, hosts Bruce Gibson and Dan Gunther discuss the William Shatner novel, Dark Victory, book two in his Mirror Universe trilogy. We talk about the plot, Project Sign, the pacing, a lack of trust, the legend of the Preservers, Kirk trying to outrun death, and our ratings.
In the news, we review two comics: New Visions 15: The Traveler, and Green Lantern: Stranger Worlds #6.
