We were joined tonight by public speaker Tamara Kwe, Anishinaabe Ikwe, Shining Eagle Woman! A very strong and inspiring woman, she tells us about how she got into Indigenous-based research, writing and workshops where she is motivated by the unique needs of Indigenous women and children and seeks to empower and build community. Bringing awareness and education to us. We talk about her research on missing and murdered Indigenous women, her frontline work, the change in her personal development and where things are right now.

Tamara Kwe also gives insight on Indigenous culture and explains what Turtle Island is. We talked about spirit names including how she got the name Shining Eagle Woman.

We had Ericka and Zach, owners of Haywire Farm in Thunder Bay join us in the studio to talk about farm life! In 2007 Ericka and Zach purchased a small farmstead together - ten years later, in 2017 they upgraded to an even larger farm! They currently raise laying chickens, meat chickens, bigs and cows. We talk about no days off as a farmer, about Thunder Bay's supportive community and farmer's markets, what it's like with our short growing season and how they manage their animals in our cold winters. Raising kids on the farm, and the colour ORANGE!

We also talk about meat subscriptions, which is a really great way to support our local farmers and feed your family with enough meat for 3+ weeks! They even brought along collection of meat from Haywire Farms for us - thank you so much!

#226 - DJ Wurlwind! He came prepared for the show and hooked up his turntable to our mixer- and played us something really special! You have to listen to the intro to hear it, it's SO GOOD! DJ Wurlwind shared a bit about his background and how he got into DJ'ing at 16! #225 - Arley Cox is an INCREDIBLE singer, songwriter and mentor. For real, check out her albums "Parts of Me" and "Letter Kite Sessions," available now! She's currently working on her third, which we talk about on the show - no release set yet, but we're definitely looking forward to it.
