The summer of 2017 four musicians, two Spanish and two English, united through the international language of music and formed a band. They had three objectives, one to make music that consisted of of a thumping blend of slick rhythms and epic hooks. Two, to bring a pop rock live action energy to their groove and three, to write lyrics that told stories of hope and overcoming life’s challenges.

Gifted with a beautiful, powerful, classically trained voice, American singer John

Crossover standards by Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Tom Jones and many others.
This touching, heartfelt song was written 20 years ago by my father, Craig Riesen, for the
passing of his mother (my grandmother). I recall its conception vividly. My father had written
a letter saying many of the things he'd wished to say to her (as we knew she was dying from
cancer), and soon after she passed away. He was heartbroken.
I remember him sitting in the living room, with tears rolling down his face as he began to play
this simple, sweet, and longing melody. Soon, words came flowing out with the tune, and this
song was created. At the time, I could not sing. I was still an avid baseball player, but as the
years passed and my vocal talents became apparent the song was passed from my father to
me.
I get chills to this day, recalling how it felt to say goodbye with song. Needless to say,
You're The Best; has been an important part of my life for many years, and I believe that it
can touch other people in the same way that it has touched my heart. We all have
experienced loss or nostalgia for our loved ones, and this piece pulls at those strings.
Originally composed for piano and voice, we have expanded the instrumentation to add solo
violin, electric bass, slight percussion, and synth to fill out the texture. It is a truly special
song.

Ever evolving and daring, glamorous and fierce yet in touch with her emotions, London King started writing songs at the age of 11, and never quitted ever since. Born in Rome and travelled to foreign countries since childhood, she often likes to cite the thirst for knowledge and the contact with other cultures a major source of inspiration for her writings. King began acting at the age of 4, being part of a children theatre company called The Mad Hatter. During her acting days, she discovered singing and musical. A spark within ignited the never-ending passion for music, that brought her to write her first song in her pre-teen/ late childhood, and later on, form a rock band at age 14. She broke her first band in 2012. Then, shortly after graduating, she moved permanently to London. The passion for this city started when, for her fifteenth birthday she received a birthday trip from her parents in the capital. Once settled in London, she began her solo career, recording her first solo track Sinking in the Darkness with multi awarded musician James Colah, which was the re-reprised version of a demo she recorded in Los Angeles, in 2008. The track describes King’s battle with depression at the young age of 15. She started playing live in various venues across London and continued recording music until 2014, when her first EP Hysteria came out. Highly regarded musicians such as Cornell Sorian have taken part in the creation of the EP. The EP’s bluesy, dark tones explore the troubled past of King. In 2014 she took part in the London regional competition Teen Star, ending runner up. In 2017, she took a break from music, and went back in the US for some inspiration. When back to England, she began working with award winning producer Aubrey Whitfield on her second EP Antichrist Child. The EP sees the 80’s and 90’s as a main influence, musically. In terms of lyrics, its bittersweet tones are what underline a new twist in her style. Whilst continuing performing in renowned venues all across London, in 2018 King begins working on her third EP, Solaris. The EP originally was meant to be more ‘happy’, but King took a turn for something more conceptual and focused on humanity as a whole, and its struggles. Although rather serious and at times philosophic, the last track of the EP, is a lighthearted, loving take at unconditional love and pure feelings. The Ep gained great recognition, specifically the track Half The Wolf I Know, where once again, King describes her battle with PTSD and depression. In February 2019, King was invited to Sky program Chrissy B Show to raise awareness about mental illnesses, and perform her music live. In 2020, she released her brand new single Take Care, which will be part of her debut album, coming out in late 2021. The song is a strong ballad about an abusive relationship and the freeing feeling of unchaining yourself from toxic love. She is currently working on finishing off her new musical project and completing her novel.

Like Confessions of a Clueless Rebel, this is a true story that brings us back in time. Partly serious and largely humorous, this tale captures the real story of an idealistic band of youthful Americans who journeyed halfway around the world in response to President John F. Kennedy’s call to ‘…ask what you can do for your country.’ They signed up to serve in the Peace Corps back in those waning days of Camelot when fervor and innocence trumped experience and common sense. Little did they realize what that decision would entail.
These recollections from the author and several aging members of India-44, a well-meaning if ill-fated Peace Corps group, serve as a reasonable proxy for those early volunteer days…what later would be known as the ‘wild west’ of overseas service. The group served in what were considered comparatively difficult Peace Corps sites, pre-industrial villages in rural India where some provided health services and others agricultural advice. Unfortunately, virtually none of them were technically prepared for the roles they were expected to play.
In hindsight, it was a situation ripe for disaster or great humor, depending on your view the world. Despite the challenges, their experiences manage to capture some of the best of our people and our country, as well as provide much at which to laugh, wonder, and sometimes even weep. This is no sugar-coated tale of heroic deeds and boundless success. Far from it! They were simply a bunch of smart kids doing their best in a very difficult, almost impossible, situation. Join them as they sought meaning, love, understanding, and purpose in places and situations that challenged them to the fullest and, for the most part, made them more complete human beings. It really did seem like a good idea at the time. In the end, it was!
