Elections are taking place across the UK today.
Voters in England, Wales, and Scotland will pick who they want to run services that affect everyday life in their local area. People in Northern Ireland will choose their government.
The results are likely to reflect how people feel about Boris Johnson, the "partygate" scandal, how Covid has been handled and the rising cost of living.
England
Local councils are responsible for everything from bins, bus routes and potholes, to providing mental health services, deciding on planning applications and managing schemes to tackle climate change.
In England, more than 4,000 councillors in 146 councils are up for election in major cities including Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and all 32 London boroughs.
South Yorkshire will also be voting for a regional mayor and 1,000 parish councils will be electing about 10,000 councillors.
Because of the huge number of seats being contested across England - some of them for the first time since 2018 - the results are likely to paint the clearest picture of the national mood.
Northern Ireland
The election for Northern Ireland's government is largely a contest between the parties in two blocs - unionists, who favour remaining part of the United Kingdom, and nationalists, who favour a united Ireland.
Since 2003, the Democratic Unionist Party has been the largest party in the national assembly, followed by nationalists Sinn Féin.
The two parties, along with other unionist and nationalist parties, and an increasingly popular third bloc of non-aligned parties, have governed under a mandatory power-sharing agreement that ended decades of fighting.
Recent polls suggest Sinn Féin could take the lead for the first time. If Sinn Féin becomes the largest party, the DUP has not said whether it would agree to share power.
That means it's possible that even after the election, the Assembly could remain without a devolved government for at least six months.
Wales
All seats in 22 local councils will be contested across Wales, where people can vote from the age of 16.
The political make-up has been mixed since the last election in 2017 and the majority of councils are currently run by coalitions - an agreement between at least two parties to share power.
Eyes will be on whether Labour can maintain its hold over Cardiff and the cities along the M4 corridor, and how the Conservatives perform in the north-east of the country, where they made gains last time.
Scotland
Voting is open to anyone over the age of 16 in Scotland, in all 32 local authorities.
The last election in 2017 saw the Conservatives make big gains from Labour, however, they failed to gain overall control and most councils have been run by coalitions ever since.
The largest cities - Glasgow and Edinburgh - are always ones to watch, but this year's results are also likely to reflect how Scots feel more generally about such issues as recent council tax changes and post-pandemic recovery.

Understanding and dealing with the challenges of modern life is not easy. We need support and guidance to navigate our complex emotions and cope in a rapidly changing world. Drawing on the ancient wisdom of the East, and years of experience working in Western psychiatry, Dr Sinha shares a series of analogies that help us understand ourselves. We are awakened to the possibility of not only surviving but thriving. These analogies have been tried and tested in his clinical practice in England and Canada- the book itself is borne out of requests by many patients and colleagues, as a result of the effectiveness of these teachings. In this first book of a series, "Empowered and Strong" transcends the boundaries between East and West, and offers a global perspective on issues that affect us all.

"Born and living in West Yorkshire, England, Jacob Davies has become a poet who can reflect the complexities and struggles of living as a young person in confusing times. His acute wit, clarity and ability to articulate the seemingly incomprehensible, sets him apart whilst creating a rare resonance with his audience that brings to the fore the thoughts many have and try to keep hidden. His poetry is his way of expressing his views, his anger, his incredulity and his complete lack of comprehension of how the world functions today. His first collection ‘The Things They’ve Never Seen’ accumulated much praise and intrigue from his growing numbers of supporters who continue to appreciate his redraw honesty and openness. ‘Every Night is November’ is his second published poetry collection. Aside from his poetry, Jacob is also co-editor of Morrissey fanzine ‘Knockabout World, which was founded in 2020 and has released four issues to date. He also has written a number of short stories. Jacob is a huge music fan and an avid reader, with Anne Sexton, Oscar Wilde, Morrissey, Belle & Sebastian and Mark Morriss cited as his influences in literature and music.”

Heba Hamzeh is a mother to three children who inspired her vocation as an author. One evening, Heba finished reading her son a bedtime book, and he asked for another story. At that moment, Heba decided to weave a tale about a boy named Prince Zaaki. The following night, her son asked for another Prince Zaaki adventure, and so the Kingdom of Luella began to grow. Forthwith, Prince Zaaki bedtime stories became a ritual -- a nightly occurrence -- as her son would sit in bed, enraptured, as Heba described a magical world full of mystical characters and mysterious places and memorable battles.
Heba is well known for creating and writing Prince Zaaki and The Royal Sword of Luella which received much critical acclaim. Prince Zaaki and The Momentous Battle of The Kingdoms is the second book in the Prince Zaaki series, where new places and new characters are introduced and explored. Heba has enjoyed evolving the main characters from the first book and developing the storyline. During her time spent writing this book, Heba has already planned and set about writing the third book in the Prince Zaaki series.
