That You May Know Him

Today Blake and Carlos continue our extended series on soteriology by diving into the five points of Calvinism. Calvinism is one of the most influential theological systems in Western Christianity, and their "system" for understanding and interpreting all that the Bible says about salvation is complex. The Calvinist system is often spoken of using an acronym: T.U.L.I.P. Today, Blake and Carlos dive into the first pillar of Calvinism - total depravity - by answering the question: are we humans totally depraved?

In today's episode, Blake and Pastor Carlos continue our study of the Books of Genesis and Acts by concluding Acts chapter 1. Shortly after Jesus ascended from the Mount of Olives, an angel appeared to his disciples and conveyed these words: "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven."

The significance of these words, and several other important topics, are what Blake and Carlos discuss in today's episode.

In our 100th episode (hooray!) Blake gives listeners a historical account of some of the modern traditions surrounding Christmas. He not only raises important questions about how Christians should approach celebrating Christmas, but he also revisits our very first episode, When A Shepherd Became King, and delves further into the likely circumstances that were present for Joseph and Mary during the time of Jesus' birth.

Also, we'd like to extend a special thanks to all of our listeners, subscribers, and supporters during this first year of the podcast and ministry!

Today on the TYMKH Podcast Blake and Pastor Carlos continue our series on Christian soteriology, What Must I Do To Be Saved?, by diving into the historical and theological roots behind the two central views on salvation within Christianity. Blake and Carlos trace the discussion all the way back to the fourth century, to two church fathers who fervently debated this question: are we saved because God chooses us, or because we choose Him?
