  • FBOTD Minisode I: KIS Kombucha
It’s the FBOTD Minisode Miniseries debut! What the heck does that mean? You, my friend, are asking the right questions. We decided to take the ideas of Episode 23 of That’s Rad about fun beverages and expand it into a miniseries! These episodes are going to be a little shorter, and maybe a little less scripted and edited. But never fear! We’re not cutting out any of the learning opportunities, personal stories from guests, or random musings from host Anastasia. For episode one, Anastasia invited Andras Hadik of KIS Kombucha of VT to close out the summer and Eat Local Month. They’re talking about how the company got started (we’re still looking for you mysterious scoby lady!), the health benefits of fermented beverages, and why kombucha is your perfect end of summer FBOTD.
The Littleton Food Co-op is your one stop shop for all of your summer essentials, including your fun beverages! We are packed to the brim with local produce, meats, cheeses, craft beer, and of course beverages. Plus check out our raved about grab-and-go prepared meals, wide selection of bulk items, and fresh meat and seafood. Swing by 43 Bethlehem Rd off of Exit 41 to see for yourself!

  • Episode XXIV: Eat Local with Meadowstone Farm
Happy Eat Local Month 2022! In honor of this statewide celebration of all things local, host Anastasia brought in the most local-est person she could think of: Sam Brown of Meadowstone Farm (Bethlehem, NH). Aside from being heavily involved in his community, Sam wins the most localest local award because Meadowstone Farm is a mere two mile drive away from the Littleton Food Co-op. Hard to get more local-er than that! In this episode, Anastasia and Sam discuss Meadowstone’s vision of being a center of the community, and how, in turn, it’s the community that makes the work worthwhile. You’ll also get a behind the scenes look at how the farm operates, and an intimate examination of the decision to drop the farm’s “organic” label back in 2008. Local knowledge guaranteed to increase by 3000% after this episode. Don’t believe us? Listen and see for yourself!
The Littleton Food Co-op is a proud retailer of Meadowstone Farm, as well as hundreds of other local producers. We have local produce, cheese, meats, bulk foods, honey and sweets, craft beers, and so much more! The Littleton Food Co-op is also locally owned by thousands of people just like you who want to support their community. Interested in becoming a member? Or just want to see what all the local hype is about? You’ll find us right off Exit 41, on the corner of Cottage St and Bethlehem Rd. See ya at the Co-op!

Listen here to learn about the life-changing habit you’re going to be running to the Littleton Food Co-op to start. The self proclaimed “girlies” talk about what a fun beverage is, why it’s important, and their best picks for the summer. Cheers!

  • Episode XXII: New England Oysters
On this episode, host Anastasia is joined by Oliver Dixon of the Rhode Island based Matunuck Oyster Farm to talk about everything oysters! Oyster farming is basically a year-round process, but oyster consumption increases in the summer by 700% (a completely made up statistic). So there’s no better time to talk about it (also a completely made up statistic–it can and should be talked about during any month). Being from the state with the smallest coastline, we had little knowledge about oysters (other than that they taste yummy!). Anastasia and Oliver discuss how oysters develop, the environmental impacts of oyster farming, and favorite ways to prepare. No matter your oyster experience, there’s something new waiting for you in this episode.
The Littleton Food Co-op is your one-stop summer essentials stop! We have a variety of fresh produce, bulk items, meat, deli items, artisan cheese, craft beverages and more, plus a frequently raved about seafood counter. Located conveniently off of Exit 41, we are Littleton’s only 100% community owned grocery store. Stop by today– no membership required! – or visit us online at littletoncoop.com.

  • Episode XX: Who's Number One?
You might not always remember your member number at the Co-op, but Mike Claflin will never forget his. Don’t worry, we didn’t just raffle the number one away while asking everyone else to remember a four or five digit combination. Mike is one of the most recognized and often cited names in the founding of the Co-op, and our host Anastasia had the privilege to sit with him to hear stories from those early days you won’t find anywhere else. The Co-op was originally going to be where? There was going to be a *what* on the property? Who did you first think of to run the store? Listen to the latest episode of That’s Rad to hear the answers to all these questions and more.
The Littleton Food Co-op is Littleton NH's first and only community-owned market. Locals and tourists alike will find a wide variety of local vibrant produce, cool craft beer, savory meats and artisan cheeses, bountiful bulk foods and more. No membership is required to shop, but we <3 our members for helping support co-op initiatives like buying local, paying fair wages to employees, and supporting community organizations. Grocery shopping has never been more exciting than here at 43 Bethlehem Rd -- just off of Exit 41 in Littleton!

  • Episode XIX: Food and the Environment
In celebration of Earth Day and the blooming buds sure to soon hit the North Country, host Anastasia is exploring the connections between food and our environment for this episode of That’s Rad. To do this, she recruited Kris Pieper, Food Access Coordinator for Taproot in Lancaster, NH. Together, Kris and Anastasia discuss how food, the environment, and we who live in it all impact one another. Kris also shares more about the Taproot initiatives he runs, including gleaning and the Lancaster Community Garden. And yes, the word they’re saying is gleaning–not cleaning. To learn more about what that word actually means, as well as gain some helpful insights on how everyone can live a greener life, make sure to listen to this episode!
We here at the Littleton Food Co-op like to say we know a thing or two about food access and helping the environment. Since 2009 we have been a thriving marketplace for the greater Littleton community to shop for healthy, local foods. Our store boasts local and organic produce, meat, bulk foods, prepared deli meals, craft beer, and more. Plus, part of being a co-op is giving back to our planet, whether it be through our solar panels and electric car charging stations, or the elimination of plastic bags at check out. Feel free to stop by 43 Bethlehem Road in Littleton and see what we’re up to. Just off Exit 41! See ya at the Co-op!

  • Episode XVIII: No Food is Bad Food
On this episode of That’s Rad, host Anastasia sits down with Kelsey McCullough, Registered Dietitian and owner of the 21st Century R.D., to have an honest conversation about how our relationship with food and our bodies is not always as positive as we project it to be on our social media feeds. The truth is many people struggle with being comfortable in their body–and Anastasia and Kelsey dive into some of the reasons why. They discuss how diet culture has now become almost inseparable from American culture, and how that affects our perceptions of ourselves, each other, and the food we eat. They also discuss the prominence of disordered eating and some of the different forms eating disorders can take. **Listener discretion is advised as the content of this episode discusses diet culture, fad diets, obesity, BMIs, weight loss, eating disorders, and other sensitive subjects.** If you or someone you know is struggling, please call the NEDA Hotline (800) 931-2237 or visit https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/.

  • Episode XVII: Food Trend Predictions for 2022
The beginning of each calendar year is filled with chefs, restaurant owners, food bloggers, and the like trying to predict what will fill our plates for the year. In this episode of That’s Rad, our host Anastasia, along with Masters in Integrated Food Studies candidate Keaton (@food.n.fits), add their own predictions to the pile. They took their mission very seriously, and think listeners will be quite pleased with how 2022 is going to look… as long as you like mushrooms. And if you don’t, they have an extra important wake-up call for you! While this episode can’t guarantee salads will finally taste good, or that we will finally get the alternative hot beverage option that we as a society deserve, we can guarantee it’ll make you laugh. Or at least a sharp exhale out the nose and a quick eyebrow raise.

  • Episode XVI: To Bee or Not to Bee
Ring in the new year with the return of That’s Rad, a podcast presented by the Littleton Food Co-op! To start off 2022, host Anastasia is putting on her long white pants and jacket and her most scientific-looking glasses because this episode is all about bees. Bees play a major role in our food systems, and contribute much more than the delicious honey they are known for. To walk us through the importance of bees, Anastasia talks with Janice Mercieri of White Mountain Apiary in Littleton, NH. You better bee-lieve this is a great episode!
The Littleton Food Co-op recognizes the importance of bees; without them, we wouldn’t have shelves filled with local produce, decadent organic chocolate, bulk products, grab and go prepared meals, craft beer and wine, and more. So grab your honey and make the new year bright by visiting us just off Exit 41 in Littleton. Or, while you’re buzzing around the web, learn more at littletoncoop.com.
