My friend and I stood in each other's weddings. She is the kind of friend who does what she says she will do. This became very evident to me during the months of wedding planning. I trust her. When she got married, I returned the favor. Our relationship with God is not like that. God keeps His promises regardless of what I do. 

Because my husband told me I needed to rest more, I have been wrestling with what this looks like in my relationship with God. I was reading Exodus 14:14-15 in my Bible app and found that resting in God doesn't always mean sitting still. 

From my experiences, I can say my life may not have turned out the way I expected it to, but it has proved to be much more than I had ever imagined. This is because my life is not about me; it's about a bigger picture –– inspiring others to find life through Christ. 

Dating can be fun in the beginning of a new relationship, but sometimes we get into a cycle of looking for someone better. "The grass is always greener on the other side," or so it's said. In Proverbs 17:24 we read that a fool's eyes wander . . .  there is a dating tip hidden in the first part of verse 24 that you will not want to miss. 

I have a hard time talking about sin. When I hear the word "sin," I only think of how irrelevant the word is to our culture today; however, God says that sin is relevant. Sin is not just an action, but also a lifestyle. It is a lifestyle that is not working.  

The phrase "I am spiritual but not religious," has become a movement. This comes from a generation who is tired of religion, but still wants answers. Believe it or not, the Apostle Paul taught about spirituality in a culture much like our own.

" I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth" (Revelation 3:15-16). This passage used to terrify me. Am I lukewarm? When I was a new Christian, I learned that the only way to fill my inner void was by moving from being in the shallow end to diving headfirst into the deep end of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus wants to fill the void in your life, as He does mine. He longs to give you more than what this modern world has to offer. We cannot experience true joy until we make that jump. 

I've been learning more about myself through my relationship with my husband John. The more I get to know John, the more I learn about myself— this is the way relationships work. The same is true for our relationship with Christ; when we dive deeper into our relationship with Jesus, we learn more about our identities in Him.
