In this episode, I dive into Neil Brogan’s gem “A Piano (I Hope),” which I’m pretty sure is one of producer Rod’s finds. This one goes straight onto my ever-expanding “love at first listen” list. I was immediately drawn in by the twangy guitar and found myself relating to the lyrics. That is, until I realized Neil is clearly a much better person than I am—because there are a few people I wouldn’t mind seeing a piano fall on. Hope you dig it.

Milk St. is a trio from Maine that caught me by surprise. They’re not what I usually gravitate toward, but their 2023 album V3RMONT won me over. Los Angeles-native Kevin Caldwell is a talented singer-songwriter I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of months ago when we were both featured on Writers Round Fullerton. That night, he performed a few songs from his then-unreleased album, Soulcialism, and I was instantly hooked. I knew then and there that I wanted to showcase one of his tracks as soon as the album dropped. I had a difficult time selecting a track, but finally settled on “Pardon Me.”
