Love them or hate them, the Buffalo Bills are one of the most interesting Franchises in the History of Pro Football. 4 straight Super Bowl appearances, each ending on the wrong end of history. There are many members of the Bills Mafia Nationwide, as Bills Backers Bars are seemingly everywhere. Even the passion that Bill’s fans have for their team rubs off on the local non-Bill’s mafia.

Matt is joined this week by Cousin In-Law Paul, to discuss one of the dark periods of Buffalo’s Pro Football History, the Drought. A 17 year period of time without a single playoff appearance. While it’s something that no fan base wants to experience, the drought was perfect analogy for the spirit and passion of Buffalo when it comes to their Bill’s! Listen for a season by season review, discussing some of the players, good and bad, that helped shape one of the longest playoff droughts in NFL History

The Quarterback Position is one of the most coveted positions in Professional Sports. Every team needs one, and it’s a process to find the right one. In 1998, the Indianapolis Colts selected one of the greatest of all time. It was highly contested, as the 1st Overall Pick was a delicate one. Ryan Leaf, or Peyton Manning? A history altering decision, but in the end, Indianapolis made the right choice.

4 AFC Championships and 2 Super Bowl Titles between 2 teams. A large number of statistical records. “The Sheriff” led a legendary career, surrounded by some of the NFL’s Finest Players. His post career accolades are well deserved. Dave Palmer returns the show to discuss the career of Peyton, as well as announcing the incredible Odell Beckham Jr. Trade to Cleveland as the show was recording.

There have been many greats that have donned an NFL Uniform. For 100 years this September, the NFL has been the premier entity in Pro Football. Many teams have come and gone, but in the year 2019, there are 32 teams, and with the help of Rams fan Mike Skyros, they pick a Mount Rushmore for all 32 Teams..

Welcome back to Part 2 of the History of the NFL! For the most part of the first 30 years of the NFL, it’s biggest challenge was itself. Although minor threats from quick upstart Pro Football Organizations came and went, one league born from spite came and changed Professional football for the better, and introduced new rules and innovations that we may overlook today!

That league was the American Football League (AFL) and it arrived in 1960, with a handful of rejected owners who were forbidden from opening expansion franchises in the NFL. The Original Teams, the New York Titans(Jets), Denver Broncos. Houston Oilers(Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, Dallas Texans (Kansas City Chiefs) and Boston Patriots, eventually became NFL Staples. Listen here to the beginning’s of the AFL, and their short lived time, as well as their merger with the NFL!

The NFL is approaching it’s 100th Season of Professional Football Dominance this year. The League has overcome many challenges since it’s inception in 1920, strengthening it’s place in Modern Culture. Opposing Leagues, social barriers, expansion, etc. Through it all, it is still one of the strongest Major Sports in North America.

In Part 1 of this Loose Examination of the History of the NFL, we look at the early days until the emergence of the AFL. The 1920’s, when franchises could not maintain, and most teams folded within the first 10 years. It was a wild time, almost lawless in nature. Hear all about it in Part 1 of our NFL History Examination

The National Football League has been home to many amazing teams of individuals over the years. There seems to be a handful of dynasties that define each and every generation, but, what happens when a team, led by an Owner, a Head Coach, and a Quarterback, have been together since the beginning and owned 2 decades of the National Football League? The most unique sports dynasty that we have ever seen has stood the test of time, withstood many, many controversies, but, always manages to make it back to the top of the mountain.

Over the last 2 decades, the Patriots have been seen by some as a mark of excellence, and by many, sheer rage, and anger. The duo of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have beaten every great team and player that there is, and while a majority of the league dislikes it, people like myself have grown to appreciate it.

Joining Matt on this episode, is a Patriots fan, and one of the most down to earth and well articulated that you will ever hear, in Allan Keohane, who, by the way, co-hosts his own podcast called “Geeks United with Al and Bob”! Allan gives her perspectives from the other side, and they’re great takes, in this informative and hopefully perception changing episode for our audience! Listen in!

In the first player spotlight on The 2-pt Conversation, Matt takes a look into one of the most heavily criticized Quarterbacks of All-Time, and one that Matt has a soft spot for in Jay Cutler. Often on the receiving end of jokes from Sportscaster’s and Armchair QB’s alike, Cutler’s career in the NFL was a roller coaster with high-highs and low-lows.

Nevertheless, Matt, amongst others, believes that Jay gets a slightly unfair reputation, and in this episode, Matt looks back on Cutler’s Career, from being Drafted to Denver, to becoming Chicago’s Best Statistical QB of All Time, to his final season in Denver. Whether you love him or hate him, one thing is for sure. “Smokin” Jay Cutler “DOOOONNNN’T CAAAAAARRREE”

The Quarterback position is the quintessential position in Football. Sure, there is more to an offense than the QB, but, a quality Quarterback can make things happen and put their teams in a position to succeed, no matter how lackluster the supporting cast is.

But, what happens when that Star Quarterback goes down? Loses his touch, gets injured? It happens more often than not, and we’ve seen it happen mid-season many a time. The Backup Quarterback is an important and often overlooked insurance plans. Andrew Lenz, a big time contributor to The 2-pt Conversation Facebook page, makes his podcast debut, joining Matt to talk about the most important Backup QB’s to ever play the game, in another nostalgia filled episode!
