The 3 Forces (not named "Porn") That Shaped Your Early Sexuality

These 3 forces had a dramatic effect on the early formation of your desires, patterns, insecurities, and feelings around sex. Explore them. Understand their imprints. Bring awareness to how they contribute in both desirable and undesirable ways to your present-day sexuality.

#1. Family

• What did you learn from your family about sexuality?
• Was it openly discussed or avoided?
• Was sexuality painted in dark strokes…or framed in a loving way?
• Was there a history of sexual abuse in your family?

#2. Friends

• Did you learn that sexuality was about power and social status like many boys?
• Did you talk about the superficialities of sex (ie # of partners, conquests, etc) or did you have friends that could also talk about insecurities?
• Did you have friends who you experimented with?

#3. Faith

• What did you learn from your faith (or absence of faith) about sexuality?
• Was sex something that was portrayed as sinful…or beautiful?
• How has your sexuality and faith been integrated in your life?
• Are there any elements of guilt in your sex life due to the role faith has played?
• Has your faith contributed to a loving relationship with your sexuality?
