Streamed live on Nov 11, 2016.
Special guest: Dr. Lindley Winslow, a faculty member in Physics at MIT.
"I am a real-life Ghostbuster. My research focuses on the ghostly neutrino. It only interacts weakly, but when enough of them get together they can blow apart stars. I am particularly interested in whether the neutrino is its own antiparticle. If this is the case then these ghostly particles can explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe and our very existence. In this talk, I will give an overview of the physics of the neutrino and my experiments. I also happened to be one of the science advisors for the recent Ghostbusters movie. I will explain the connection between my work and some of the real physics that was featured."

Alan Versfeld hosts. From Alan: "My guest this week is Auke Slotegraaf ( http://www.psychohistorian.org/ / @auke_s ) Director of the Deep Sky Section of the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa, (and I managed to mangle his name not once but twice – rather embarrassing) about astronomy, history, and more. It runs a little long, at 50 minutes, but since that seems to be about the standard for interview-format podcasts, I don’t feel too bad.
Among the many hats Auke wears, he is involved with the Centre for Astronomical Heritage, a non-profit organization which aims to record, preserve, and disseminate information about, South Africa’s astronomical heritage. If you have any interest in astronomy or history, I’d suggest you check them out."

Originally broadcast July 30, 2007.
Consider the following: we’ve got tides here on Earth, the Moon only shows one face to the Earth, we’ve got volcanoes on Io, and ice geysers on Enceladus. All these phenomena originate from a common cause: the force of gravity stretching across space to tug at another world.

Dr. Al Grauer hosts. Dr. Albert D. Grauer ( @Nmcanopus ) is an observational asteroid hunting astronomer. Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006.
Today's 2 topics:
- The evidence for an unseen planet 9 orbiting our Sun is getting hard to ignore. It could have an elongated orbit with 300-1,000 AU dimensions. Unfortunately it's likely at its most distant part of the 17,000 year orbit.
- 2014 MU69 is the next target for the New Horizons spacecraft. It's a small target, though, being only 13-25 miles in diameter. But visiting it and learning about it is a chance for scientists to study pristine 4 billion year old material from the earliest days of the solar system's formation.

Our understanding of Saturn’s rings is still evolving. A team of researchers using observations made in 2008 have managed to measure the brightness and temperature of Saturn's rings in more detail than ever. More detail in mid-infrared images from the ground, that is.
