The 40k Lorecast

Today on the history of 40K we talk about the act of picking up the game of 2nd edition 40K. How you found playing partners, where you learned the game. We also talk about the physical game itself. From a era long forgotten of mail order catalogs and magazines. Also what you do when the models arrived how to build them, paint them, and where to go for advice on such things. So join us on a deep dive into a forgotten era of the world pre-internet.

On today’s cast we close out our coverage of the war of the beast. We start with what becomes the final invasion of Ullanor and the slaying of the beast (for real this time). But after that we jump into the post effects of the war of the beast, starting with Vangoich killing all the lords of Terra. After that we talk about the corruption of a space marine chapter and their fall to chaos as a backdrop to the war of the beast. We then close out with how the war of the beast affected the imperial citizens, the organization of the lords of terra, the space marines, and the inquisition. We then close talking about how it affected the orks!

On today’s cast we continue our coverage of the war of the beast. We open with the invasion of Ullanor. On paper it looked like it was going to go great, but it did not. From there we go back to Terra with the formation of the Death Watch. Then we follow the rediscovery of the Sisters of Silence and a new plan for how to kill the beast. We then close out with the second invasion of Ullanor.

Today we are joined by Brian Horton who has been playing the game since the launch of 2nd edition. In a time long long ago, where phones were not mobile, print media was king, and most all TV was boring (not everything is better). Brian joins us to discuss Warhammer 40K 2nd edition, what it was like picking it up, how it played and more.

On our first ever episode we discuss what the History of 40K is. what the show will be about, and the topics we plan on discussing. We then do a personal one about our journeys into the game. With a breakdown of how we started the game and what we love about it.

On today’s cast we continue our coverage of the war of the beast. We open with all of Terra freaking out about a giant attack moon just above Terra. But luckily the Lords of Terra have an idea, called the Proletarian Crusade. After that dismal failure, we cover two different visitations to the imperial palace, from the Orks and then the Harlequins. From there we follow the forces of the imperium to mars, where they learn the origins of the ork invasion. But before they can act they have to run and pick up a Primarch, who just appeared out of no where.

On today’s cast we begin our coverage of the War of the Beast. We open with the setting of the imperium in the middle on M32, where the imperium was actually doing kid of great (thanks Guilliman!) Then we get into the invasion of the chromes and the appearance of the first attack moon. From there everything starts to fall apart as the Lords of Tera do Lords of Terra stuff. Thankfully their hands get forced by the Inquisition and Assassins and the imperium takes action. Only to find their great success undermined by a greater threat.

On Today’s cast we cover how warp travel is performed by the imperium in the 40K universe. We open with how a warp travel functions, as opposed to FTL drives. We then get into the addition of Navigators and Astropaths to the experience of travel, and some canon conflicts therein. After that we move into the Gellar fields, so as to avoid being in the movie Event Horizon. We then dive into warp travel itself, the experience of those doing it. Then we close out with coverage of how the galaxy is segmented, and the great Nexus Automatica
