The 415ers

Today on The 415ers, hosts Evan Giddings and Marc Grandi take stock of the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback room.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke about his team's quarterback room at the NFL's annual owner meetings. Did his comments about Brock Purdy's rehab timeline surprise you at all?

Plus, is there anything we can glean from Kyle Shanahan's comments on Sam Darnold room about the 49ers' feelings towards Trey Lance? Is Darnold's existence on the 49ers' roster a threat to Lance's future?

Also, If Trey Lance and Sam Darnold are in a true quarterback competition this offseason, why is the 49ers messaging on Lance the same as it was last season? Something has clearly changed, but the 49ers say nothing has changed. What does this mean for Lance's future with the 49ers?

Today on The 415ers, hosts Evan Giddings and Marc Grandi react to San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch's comments at the NFL's annual owner meetings.

Lynch threw support behind Brock Purdy, saying that he has "earned the right" to be the team's starting quarterback, assuming health. That's not a surprise, right? Plus, what does this mean for Trey Lance and the 49ers' decision to draft him?

John Lynch also addressed trade rumors swirling around 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who -- according to reports -- has been the subject of a few phone calls from interested teams. San Francisco shouldn't have any reason to trade Aiyuk now, right? But given the structure of the team's contract, the 49ers will need to make a long-term decision on Aiyuk relatively soon.

Plus, since the last episode, the 49ers have made a few moves. They signed a kicker! Does this signal the end of the Robbie Gould era for good? San Francisco also added some depth pieces on both the offensive and defensive lines. Are the 49ers' big moves over for the offseason, or is a run at disgruntled quarterback Lamar Jackson at all possible?

Today on The 415ers, hosts Evan Giddings and Marc Grandi react to Brandon Aiyuk's first tweet in over a month. Are the 49ers trying to get a jumpstart on Aiyuk's contract negotiations, and might they have opened with a lowball offer that upset Aiyuk? What does how the 49ers approach Aiyuk's contract mean about their feelings about Deebo Samuel and did the Christian McCaffrey acquisition affect the 49ers' thoughts on this whole process?

Plus, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger recently went on a Pittsburgh radio station and said that the 49ers reached out to him about the possibility of coming out of retirement last season. Do you buy that? And any guesses at what point of the season the 49ers might have reached out to Roethlisberger and his camp?

Also, 49ers tight end George Kittle recently talked about the stress that social media can cause him, his fellow football players, and other professional athletes. Do you agree with Kittle?
