On the latest episode of The 415ers, hosts Evan Giddings and Marc Grandi react to the San Francisco 49ers' 31-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
(0:38) Rookie quarterback Brock Purdy injured his right elbow on the 49ers' first offensive drive of the game and only returned to the game because his backup, journeyman Josh Johnson (San Francisco's fourth quarterback of the season), left with a head injury. The 49ers held up for a bit without any threat at quarterback, but a couple minute stretch at the end of the first half spelled doom for San Francisco.
(16:50) The 49ers defense played well for most of the first half, though, and there was legitimate fear inside of Lincoln Financial Field after Christian McCaffrey's touchdown run tied the game. But penalties and turnovers turned the game on its head and led to the Eagles' 31-7 win. The game also got ugly in the second half. Was Trent Williams in the wrong for slamming K'Von Wallace to the ground?
(32:52) Now that the 49ers' season has come to an end, what will you remember most from the year? The injuries to multiple quarterbacks, the acquisition of Christian McCaffrey, the ascension of Brock Purdy, or something else? Plus, is this end to a season more painful than last year for you? Do you think that this team was Kyle Shanahan's best as head coach of the 49ers?
