Today on the podcast I interview Laura Nicewaner. Laura and I met in the LDS Church’s self-reliance class on “How to start your own business.” Laura owns her own cleaning business so I thought she was a perfect fit for this months topic of “Make a House a Home”.
You will find that this interview is much more than cleaning tips. Laura has tremendous faith and a deep testimony of Jesus Christ. She not only lives by gospel principles in her personal life but she also carries those into her work as well. She is a great example of following the path God has in-store for you and going forward with faith. • Pod #36 Part 4: LDS Women Money Stories, My Interview With Myself
I felt it only fair to ask myself the same questions I asked Jessie, Whitney, and Michelle. It's interesting being on both sides of the interview. The questions were harder to answer for myself than I thought they would be but I'm glad I did it so that I can look back in a few years and see if my story has changed at all. If I have taken anything away from this experience it is that we don't talk about our relationship to money enough. It falls into the category of "taboo" subjects to discuss and really share our true feelings around. But I think discussing things with others not only helps us see others perspectives but to solidify our own beliefs. I hold the right to change my money story as I learn and progress, but for now, this is it. Enjoy!

  • Pod #36 Part 3: "LDS Women Money Stories, My Interview With Michelle Stevenette
In part three of my four part series on "LDS Women Money Stories" I interview the beautiful Michelle Stevenette. She is a recent missionary mom and instructor at Pure Barre. She graduated from BYU with a BS and is a recently certified health coach. She is on a mission to have every woman love their body.
In todays interview she discusses how her pioneer heritage has contributed to her money story. She is a firm believer that money is just an extension of who you are so if you are good, you will do good with your money. She also had an interesting insight that has changed her perspective in regards to getting more money that has to do with the way we pray. She believes this is a great time for women to be making money and one that affords them a lot of flexibility and creativity. I found her answer to my question regarding being an LDS woman having shaped her money story fascinating. This is an interview you don't want to miss! Enjoy!

  • Pod #35 : Why You Need To Stop Making Money The Bad Guy
Today I talk about an experience I had in a recent church meeting and how we tend to often pick money as the bad guy when we find ourselves in less than ideal situations. After much thinking I realized that money is never the bad guy, it's what we think of it that can make it bad. I share three false beliefs we often may have about money and then some alternative ways of thinking about them. I truly do believe that we can have pretty much all that we desire in life if we are willing to be flexible and stay out of a victim mentality - especially when it comes to money.
