To Seek the kingdom first, is simply the act of putting God first in our lives and our thoughts with His desires, and to use His character (the fruits of the spirit) as our pattern for life. It also means that we continually live His kingdom values on earth, and put Him first, and we think Jesus first, before we think self or others.

In this podcast, the Accord Team, Rebecca and Naomi, talk about the characteristics of a hard heart and how it can cause us to say no to the things of God. We may not consider that we have a hard heart, but it can be a gradual process like not putting cut flowers in water or leaving food uncovered on the counter, they spoil when left unattended, and it can be the same with our own hearts. God wants our heart to be pliable, moveable, and soft so that it is responsive to Him, but having a hard heart makes us harsh, unfeeling and that can cause us to miss the things that God is doing.

These other things can be things that God has given to us, but if they become bigger than Jesus, then we might be in the Kingdom but forgetting about the King. God is jealous over us, and He wants all of us, and our calling and gifting cannot become more important than the relationship that we have with Him.

In this podcast, the Accord Team, Rebecca and Naomi, talk about disappointment and how we have to deal with it correctly to make sure that it does not build things within us that have to be dismantled, but that it ultimately causes us to run to God and trust in Him more. There is something very beautiful about feeling disappointment and then running to the Lord with it. As we give it to Him, tell Him Him honestly about our feelings about it all, surrender it all to Him, then He takes us on a journey with Him that enables us to get our eyes on Him, and put our hope in Him rather than whatever has disappointed us.

It is important that we finish things well, and it is a requirement of God that can affect our movement into the new thing. When we know that it is time to step into the new, it is easy to become hasty in leaving the old but we have to finish as God wants us to. There are many ways of knowing when something has become old, but we have to be careful that we don't become reluctant to leave something because it is a place of comfort, and we also have to make sure that we are grateful for what God has built in our lives through that.

In this podcast, the Accord Team, Rebecca and Naomi, talk about how to deal with difficult people, especially when those people are also in Christ. There is a difference between those who are dysfunctional and those who are toxic, and we know that God requires us to pray for those who are difficult, to love and forgive them, and to bless them, because that displays the character of Jesus and gives grace an opportunity to work. It is acceptable to God to not agree with our brother, but there must be no disunity, and we keep unity by keeping a correct heart towards each other which is why forgiveness is commanded.

This can feel quite overwhelming, scary and out of our control but that is the beauty of it! It is out of our control because it is in His control, and that often happens because at some point, we have made a promise to God and He is now calling that promise in.

We must feel that we are free to do anything, whether or not we ever act on that is a separate issue, but we must know that we have the freedom to do anything.

Dying to self is not actually word for word in scripture, but it is a concept that is often misunderstood, or becomes our central driving force that creates striving and self effort. Dying to self is not a hatred of ourself, it is a love for Christ more than ourself, and it is the choosing of Him over the choosing of ourself first.

It can fill us with excitement, joy, desire and happiness, but it can also be a time where we feel fear, anticipation and the voices in our mind can become very loud. The adventure requires faith, blind faith, where we completely and utterly trust God and have faith in the journey that He has mapped out for us even if we do not know all of the details and cannot fully see yet where we are going.
