http://christianbaker.net/blog/you-must-know-this-to-create-the-life-you-want/
Hi this is Christian Baker from christianbaker.net and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation and encouragement, to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset, so that you believe in yourself more, take purposeful action and achieve the life and the goals that you want, and simply be the best that you can be.
To create and achieve the life you want there's something you must do first!
The first thing you have to do if you want to achieve anything is,
You must decide what you want!
You must first choose, decide and get clear on what it is that you actually want to achieve.
Like I said, this might sound obvious, but human nature is that we often default to thinking and talking about the things that we don't want.
But if you keep doing that, you're just going to repeat and get more of the same.
The mind's very powerful, we get more of what we think about, we get more of what we focus on.
So, if our focus is towards the things that you don't want, then there's no surprise, that you keep getting more of the same.
To achieve anything you must first choose, decide, and get clear on what it is that you actually want.
Now it's your turn, take a couple of moments today, get pen and paper, get your journal out, or just give it some thought. If you could wave a magic wand, if you had a magic lamp with your very own genie, if you could design, create and achieve the life that you want for yourself and those significant people in your life, what is it that you would actually like to accomplish?
Write your goals down, create a vision board, create some affirmations, do whatever works best for you, that helps you to get clear on what you want and helps keep it front and fresh of mind, and then review and reflect your goals, your vision board, to remind yourself and keep your focus on it.
This helps focus, train and inform your mind what it is that you want.
When your mind knows what it is that you want, it will help support you in making it happen.
To achieve anything, you must first get clear on what it is that you want and then you can take actions, deliberate purposeful action that will help move you towards making it happen!
So, if you want to achieve anything, if you want to accomplish anything, if you want to enjoy anything in your life, you first must choose what is that you want to accomplish, otherwise how else can you make it happen?
It sounds simple and obvious, but make sure you don't overlook this fundamental step.
But if you don’t know what you want, how can develop your mindset to support you in making it happen!
Action Step - Take some time out, to think, picture, imagine, to wonder and get playful, for what it is that you would like to achieve and accomplish in your life?
I'd love to hear what you are looking forward to achieving next, so please get in touch, leave a comment and let me know what it is that you're looking forward to achieving in your life.
And remember what your mind believes you will achieve, so think, differently believe in yourself, take action, and you can achieve the life and the goals that you want.
Get clear on it and make it happen, go on you can do it!

https://christianbaker.net/blog/create-habits-to-live-your-life-on-purpose/
Hey this is Christian Baker from christianbaker.net and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation and encouragement, to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset, so that you believe in yourself more, take purposeful action and achieve the life and the goals that you want, and simply be the best that you can be.
Now, today I want to ask you a question.
"Are you living your life on autopilot or on purpose?"
All too often, we get caught up in the business and the demands of day-to-day life, that we just get in the habit of doing things without even given much thought to why we're doing them, or what those habits are doing for us.
Everything that we do is doing one of two things, it's either moving us towards, or away from the goals and the life that we want to enjoy, achieve and accomplish.
I was chatting with a client the other day, they are a very successful, self-made entrepreneur, and we were talking about his daily routines and habits and it reminded me of how often many of us don't pay enough attention to the things we do, the thoughts, the actions, the habits and routines we do in our life. Or how little time, we take to deliberately choose how we spend our time.
The reality is we all have the same 24 hours in the day, it's up to us to choose, to take the time, to do things that are adding value to our life, to do the things that are helping us move in the direction of accomplishing the life we want.
So, think about your life, think about how you spend your time and ask yourself, is what you're doing on a regular consistent basis, moving you towards or away from the things that you actually want.
Once you have given that some thought, then you can take ownership, then you can take responsibility, then you can choose, decide, and commit to implementing making some shifts in the best direction for you.
Some of these shifts can be quite small. Just start being deliberate and purposeful, decide some of the things that you can do each and every single day, that will help you move in the right direction and closer to what you want.
This could include any number of things, changes to improve your lifestyle, shifts to improve your physical fitness or create habits, daily routines and rituals that help support your mind's fitness.
So, if you aren't where you want to be in your life, if you're not feeling the way you would like to feel, maybe you could look at changing and creating some of your habits and routines. You don't have to change everything at once, just make a start and find what works for you.
Get in the habit of taking some daily time, to reflect and focus your mind on the goals that you want and help keep your momentum in the right direction.
Think about what you actually want to achieve. Think about what you want your life to look like.
Some of the habits and routines you could include are, meditation, you can journal, you can do affirmations, you can read and feed and nurture your mind do more things that are going to help improve your mind fitness. Including so regular physical activity can also be part of your healthy habits and routines.
Simply choose what you are going to do, and then do it!
But don't just do it once of for a few days, do it consistently, it's no good doing something once, or a few times and expecting it to make a significant difference to your life, instead make a commitment to do it consistently.
For years I've encouraged clients to set a 28 Day Challenge (4 weeks), and in my Personal Best members club with have a monthly "Focus 30", the aim is to choose, to decide and commit, to doing one thing every day for 30 days, that helps make a positive difference in your life, to do something that helps create momentum and move your forward in your life.
Or you could start by doing it for the next 7 days, whatever makes it easier for you to get started and keeping going, so if you feel overwhelmed, just break it down and start with today, ask yourself, "What can I do today that will help move me forward/make a positive difference?"
Then keep going for the next few days, 7 days, 30 days and by then if it's habit that's beneficial to you, keep doing it.
The repeat the process, rather than living unintentionally on autopilot and leaving your choices and habits to chance, set and new focus every month, to deliberately implement a new habit or routine, that will benefit you and your life.
Remember when you make small shifts, to your actions, your habits, your behaviours, your thoughts, then it can lead to big impacts. The ripple effect in all areas of your life can be tremendous.
Action Step - Take some time today to think about and ask yourself, "are some of your daily routines and habits working for you?", or is it time to start to deliberately choose to do some things on purpose and with a purpose, that will help move you forward.
Let me know, drop a comment, get in touch and let me know what some of your daily habits are that work for you, and what habits you're going to choose to do from this moment forward, that will help you to be the best that you can be and achieve the life that you want.
Remember what your mind believes you will achieve. so, think differently, believe in yourself, take action, and you can achieve the life that you want and be the best version of you that you possibly can go on.
You can do it, start now and make it happen!

Improve Your Life - Say No More - http://christianbaker.net/blog/say-no-more-and-change-your-life/
Hi this is Christian Baker from https://christianbaker.net/ and The Achieve Podcast sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement, to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset, to believe in yourself more, take action and achieve the life and the goals that you want and to simply be the best that you can be.
Now over the years of working with thousands of clients, one of the things I see people struggle with the most is the ability to simply say no.
Now that might be internally or externally. It might be saying no to an unwanted thought, feelings, habit, or behaviour. Or it could be saying no to people that drain you of your time and energy. The kind of people that kind of sabotage you, hijack your time and energy by getting you to run to their own agenda, rather than you staying on track and focused on things that you want.
So, what I'm going to ask you today is, "Is there anything, or anybody that you could say no to in your life that would have a positive impact to you and your ability to be the best that you can be and achieve the life and the goals that you want?"
Now, there's quite a few reasons why people struggle to say no, it could be lack of confidence, it could be that your programmed to be a people pleaser, a trait that doesn't allow you to say no to people because the fear of letting them down, it could be because of a lack of clarity.
This is probably the single most important thing that you can do to help yourself, firstly get clear on what you actually want,
What do you want to accomplish?
What do you want to achieve?
How do you want to spend your time?
When you get clear on what direction you want your life to be taken, then it becomes easier to say no to the things that aren't moving you closer towards that. So that's my kind of encouragement for you today, stop, pause, and think about getting clarity on the life that you actually want.
Then you can start to think about what you can say no to, no more excuses, no more bad habits, no more procrastinating, no more wasting time getting lost online or getting sucked into social media, getting distracted from accomplishing, or utilizing your time in a more productive way.
Just stop, pause, look around your life and ask yourself, is there anything or anybody that I can say no to?
And then you can start to say yes to the things that you actually want in your life.
You can say yes to doing more of the actions, the habits, the behaviours that are going to move you closer towards the life, the goals that you actually want to be achieving.
So, there you go, that's your action step today. Take a couple of moments to think about what you can say no to, what you can then start saying yes to more and then go and make it happen.
Remember what your mind believes you will achieve, so think differently, believe yourself, take action and you can achieve the life that you want.
Now help yourself by just saying no more to the things that aren't adding value and helping you to make it happen.
Go on, you can do it!

Stop Your B.S
Hi, this is Christian Baker from https://christianbaker.net/blog/ and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset, so that you believe in yourself more, take action and achieve the life and the goals that you want and simply be the best that you can be.
Is your BS getting in the way of you being the best that you can be?
Often we reach a time or a point in our life where we want to change, improve, or achieve something, but we find ourselves coming up with all the excuses, all the reasons why we can't do it.
Now, whether you call it resistance, self-sabotage, the curse of comparison, or the imposter syndrome, fundamentally what's happening is your mind is getting in the way, your own BS, your belief system. The stories that you're telling yourself, both in your own mind and out loud that are stopping you from making it happen.
But this is not your fault, it's simply the way the mind works. The mind's primary objective is to keep us as we are and often our programming, our belief system just gets out of date for where we are in our life and the things we want to accomplish.
It may have been that some of these beliefs, some of these stories that we tell ourselves, served us well once. They may have been appropriate for a particular time in our life. But often if we're at a point where we want to move forward, where we want to change it, it's simply case that that or mind programming our belief system, may just have become out of date for where we are now.
I often describe the mind to be like that for computer, it's only as effective as the programme it's running to, and if that programming is working for you, then fantastic. But if it's not, it may just need an update. So, the first thing to do is become aware of what your BS is.
What are the stories you're telling yourself?
Do you find yourself saying things like;
"I can't do that."
"I'm not good enough"
"I don't have enough experience."
"One day when I'm ready I will"
"When I have enough confidence"
Over the years of working with clients, I've heard statements like this so many times, I've heard pretty much all the different reasons and excuses that you could possibly come up with!
But this is your mindset, your B.S, your programming!
This good news, because it means if it's not working for you, you can change it!
So, that's the first thing to do, to become aware of your Belief System.
Then the second thing to do is rewrite it. Rewrite the narrative, the story, the script that you've been telling yourself. Get your journal out, get a pen and paper, and if you could tell your mind, what it is that you want it to do from this day forward, what would you programme it to do?
If you were writing your own story, if you're writing the next chapter, what would you include within that?
And it's amazing, once you take the time to tell your mind what it is you want to do, it can then go about doing that for you.
Otherwise its primary objective is to keep you safe, to keep you protected, to keep you where you are.
So that's why I say don't fight it, don't give yourself a hard time for it, just acknowledge it. Because your mind is doing a brilliant job in protecting you and keeping you running to that script, that belief system.
But know you can change it!
So, if you could feed and install a new belief system into your mind, that would give you all the confidence, the self-belief, that will allow you to do all the things you want to do, then get these ideas down on paper.
Then the third step is to reprogramme your mind. Becoming aware and actually getting clear on what you want is going a long way towards doing that.
But then every day, focus on it, read it, reflect it, rewrite it, just spend time, really getting your mind clear focused on what it is that you want.
Now, if you do that consistently, if you repeat that often enough, you may well find that that helps you to make the positive changes that helps you to achieve the things that you want to achieve.
But there's so many other things you can do to help yourself. You know, you may benefit from one-on-one coaching or getting in touch with therapist. (Please feel free to get in touch. If you feel as if you need a bit of extra assistance, I may be that I can help you).
There are other things you can do for yourself as well, like affirmations, self-hypnosis and meditations that focus and programme your mind on the outcomes that you want.
There are all sorts of things you can do to nurture your mind, journaling, goal setting, visualisation, vision boards. There are so many different things that you can do to help yourself to reprogram your mind.
But first of all, you need to become aware and acknowledge that your BS is getting in the way, second rewrite it. And then third reprogramme it.
You can do it!
Take time today to get clear on what you want, design and create your new updated belief system, then make it happen!
Remember what your mind believes you will achieve. So, think differently, believe in yourself, take action and make it happen.
Go on, you can do it!

This is Christian Baker from https://christianbaker.net/ and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset, so that you believe in yourself more, and take action to achieve the life that you want and simply be the best that you can be.
Now this week, I received a message from a client I haven't seen for about three years and he simply put, "Christian I need a reset".
This is fairly common message that I receive from people who've got to a point where they just feel overwhelmed, where they just feel as if the busyness of day to day life's got on top of them, or significant things have occurred, which means they just feel as if they just need to have a reset.
And it's something that we could all benefit from doing, to help us to maintain that nice equal balance in our life. Most of us are guilty of getting caught up in the busyness of day to day life, so I'd just urge you to take time to disconnect, to enable you to reconnect, to enjoy some downtime.
It reminds me of a meme that goes around that says, my mind feels like an internet browser, there's umpteen tabs open, some are frozen, the cursor wheel is spinning, I've got music playing, and I don't know where it's coming from. And that's sometimes what the noise and the busyness in our own mind can feel like.
About 20 years ago, I worked in an IT support role and there's an ongoing joke within the IT world that if there's a problem, the usual first response is to advise people to turn the technology on and off.
The same could be applied for our mind, sometimes we just need to get off that hamster wheel, the treadmill of day to day life, the busyness of our thoughts, and just take a step back, to switch off and disconnect and have a simple reset.
Now there's many different ways of doing that, if you need some assistance, visit my website, check the comments or the notes for the link to my website, https://christianbaker.net/ where there is a free 15 minute audio, a guided meditation, that helps you to achieve a mind reset, to help you relax mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Taking the time out, allows you to feel rested, relaxed, refreshed, recharged, and re-energized.
But you may have your own choice for how you like to disconnect, whatever is your preferred choice, just take the time to have some quiet time and allow yourself to feel rested, relaxed, refreshed, recharged, and wonderfully reenergize.
I'm often making the comparison with, IT, technology and the mind. If you think of your mind like a phone, or a computer. With technology, we often upgrade it, we change them.
I don't know if you've ever had the experience, where you've been using a phone, or a computer, that's kind of getting a bit old, or the memory is getting full to capacity and it starts getting a bit sluggish and a bit slow and the power doesn't last as long anymore.
But sometimes it's not until we change it, that you realize what you've been putting up with and how slow it has become.
I think of the mind as being the same, sometimes we need to reset and refresh our mindset, to stop the overwhelm, to stop the noise, to stop the busy-ness and just allow yourself to recharge to reboot.
Think of all the activities that help you to achieve that, when you do them, it's like plugging yourself into the charger, it's like giving yourself the opportunity to offload and backup some of the busyness that's going on in your mind.
It also helps to give you the opportunity to have an update, to upgrade the workings of your mind. So, it works on two levels when you have that kind of calm, quiet headspace.
It's beneficial in its own right, but you can also use that level of awareness to train your mind, to focus your mind on the things and the outcomes that you actually want.
But for today, I just want to encourage you to take the opportunity to enjoy some more calm, quiet time in your day to day life, however you choose to do it.
I have a free complimentary audio on my website, which you're welcome to go and download and listen to that as often as you like.
https://christianbaker.net/
On my YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/christianbakertv/
I also have some short, guided meditation videos you can use. click here to find the ones you like
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSyz9iIbszx1OPoaCiWifLIMjJo67Vt3B
However you choose to do it, I encourage you to take time, to allow yourself to disconnect, to reconnect, to feel rested, relax, refresh, recharge, and wonderfully re-energized.
Then let me know your favourite way to reset your mind.
Remember what your mind believes you will achieve, so allow yourself to think differently, to believe in yourself, to take action, and you can achieve the life and the goals that you want.
Now help yourself by taking time to recharge as often as you can.

http://christianbaker.net/blog/shift-your-focus-and-change-your-life/
Hi I'm Christian Baker from https://christianbaker.net/ and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement, to help you to think differently and develop your mindset, so you believe in yourself more, take action and achieve the life and the goals that you want.
In this episode I want to share with you, why and how it's so important to focus your mind, to shift your mindset towards the things that you actually want.
When you shift your focus, you can change your mindset and change your life!
Now, whenever I'm talking with clients, particularly new clients, we usually end up starting off by talking about what people don't want.
You know, we're very good at this, it's almost like a default setting is to focus, to pay attention, to talk about, to think about the things that we don't want, the things that we can't do, the things we're not very good at.
But if we keep doing that, we're just training our mind to keep paying and attention and keep moving in that direction.
The mind moves in the direction of our most dominating thoughts, our thoughts lead to feelings and our feelings lead to our actions.
So, if we're constantly thinking and talking about the things that we don't want,
we're, inadvertently moving our mind and our life and our actions in that direction.
Now don't get me wrong, it's important, it's a great starting point, to get clear on what you don't want. But if you keep consuming your thoughts, your self talk and your external conversations about those things, that's like going shopping with a shopping list of all the things that you don't want to buy.
Can you imagine the frustration, if you're walking around the shops and all you've got is a list of the things that you don't want. Imagine how unproductive, what, what a waste of time and energy that would be.
But in order to get clear on what you do want is often a good starting point to decide what you don't want, so absolutely start there.
Then you have to ask yourself the question, Okay so that's the things, the life, the goals that I do not want, what's the opposite of that? What do I actually want?
And then just open your mind to the possibility and just start to get playful with the idea and give your mind that direction.
Once you've done that it's important to take time to think about that on a regular ongoing basis.
Just sitting down and getting some clarity once, is a good starting point, but it's not going to help that continuation and the momentum towards achieving that.
So, in summary, get clear on what you do not want, choose and decide on what you do.
Then focus on that every single day, spend a few moments, thinking, imagining, getting excited about what you do want.
By doing this, you're going to shift your mindset. You're going to train and condition your mind towards achieving and enjoying those goals, the feelings and the life that you actually want.
It takes no more time and energy to think and talk about the things you do want, so give it a go, take some time to do that.
Let me know how you get there and what positive difference that makes to you and your life and how it helps you to achieve the goals and the life that you want.
What your mind believes you will achieve. So, think differently, believe in yourself, take action and you can achieve the life that you want.
Remember, just spend a few moments every day, thinking about what it is that you do want, because your thoughts, lead to your feelings and your feelings lead to your actions, so go on shift your focus and you can change your mindset and change your life.
Go on make it happen!

Hi there, this is Christian Baker from www.ChristianBaker.net and The Achieve Podcast sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset, so you can believe in yourself more, take action and achieve the life and the goals that you want.
Now we're just approaching the end of the year. Some people look at it that we've got three months left, 12 weeks, 90 days.
However, you choose to look at it we've just entered the final quarter of the year.
Recently I've been having conversations with personal coaching clients around what their goals are for the end of the year, how best they can finish the year strong and what they want to accomplish before the end of the year.
So, I'm just going to ask and encourage you to stop, pause and have a think about that for yourself, if you were to get to the end of this calendar year, what is it that you'd like to have accomplished?
Regardless of when you're listening or watching this, this is a great exercise to be do. There are many great times throughout the year when it's a good opportunity to stop and look at your goals, the start of a new year, halfway through the year, the different quarter's, but to be fair any day is a good day to stop,
to look, to reflect, to review where you're heading and what it is that you're actually wanting to accomplish in your life.
So, whether you frame it as three months, 12 weeks or 90 days, have a look at what it is that you would like to accomplish in that timeframe. But then break it down and reverse engineer it and look at what it is that you're going to do for the next 28 days.
You know, once you have a slightly bigger target or goal, then look at your action steps, what's your main focus.
You could then maybe break it down into the next seven days.
Now you know what you want to achieve in 12 weeks, what is it you need to get done?
What is it you want to accomplish?
What's going to help you get closer towards that in the next seven days?
You could then look at the next day, I always think it's a good idea to review your actions the night before.
So, choose, decide, and commit, what your actions are going to be tomorrow. Maybe you're going to choose just one thing, some people like to look at the top three things that they're going to accomplish in a day.
But if you just say to yourself, what's the one thing that I want to accomplish?
Reduce the overwhelm, the noise and all distractions and ask yourself;
What's the best thing I can accomplish, that is going to move me closer towards the goal and the life that I want?
So my encouragement for you, the action step I want you to take away from this episode, is to stop, to look, to reflect upon, regardless of what time of year now and choose and decide what you're going to, accomplish in the next 12 weeks.
Then break that down into the next 28 day chunks, then the next seven days and just focus, get clarity on the action steps that you can take that accumulatively will get you closer towards actually achieving that.
Once you've done that, feel free to leave a comment, drop me a message, send me an email and let me know what you are going to achieve in the next 12 weeks.
Remember what your mind believes you will achieve, so think differently, take action and you can achieve the life and the goals that you want.
Go on, make it happen!
All the best

Wave A Magic Wand - If Anything Was Possible What Would You Like To Achieve
Hi I'm Christian Baker from christianbaker.net and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to help you think differently, to develop your mindset, so that you believe in yourself more, take purposeful action, so that you achieve the life and the goals that you want.
Now, I have a question for you today.
If anything was possible and you could wave a magic wand, what would you like to achieve?
When I work with clients, people often fall into one of two categories, and this is a question I ask both of them for different purposes.
Often people come to me because they're at a bit of a loss, they're overwhelmed, they're not quite sure what it is they want to achieve, but they're just unhappy, frustrated or unfulfilled in some way.
So, we have to look at where they're heading and what they'd actually like to achieve, in order to start moving towards it.
As part of the process, I will often ask them,
"If anything was possible, what would you like to achieve?
Just imagine for a moment that you could fast forward to a point in time in your near future, whether that be days, hours, weeks, months, or even this time next year, simply a point in time. where your life is looking more how you would like it to be. What is it that you would actually like to achieve?
Once you know that, then you can start to take purposeful action towards making it happen, and your mind will help you to go in that direction.
But you first have to get some clarity on what it is that you would like to achieve.
I don't expect that if this is the first time you're asking yourself this, or you're at a crossroads in your life, that you will have instant, or complete clarity, but I encourage you, I urge you, to reflect upon what you'd actually like to achieve, what you want your life to look like.
Perhaps get a pen and some paper, a notebook, or a journal, or use the notes section on your phone. And just ask yourself, "If I could wave a magic wand would I like to achieve?"
"If you could wave a magic wand and change, improve or achieve anything, what would you like transform and accomplish?
I also work with some people who know what they want, they know what they'd like to achieve. They have a goal, but for some reason they're stuck, they feel as if there is some kind of invisible barrier preventing them from getting there.
So again, I ask the same questions, "If you could wave a magic wand, if you could eliminate, if you could remove any and all obstacles, or barriers that are in your way
what would you get rid of?"
"What would you change?"
"And what would you really like to achieve?" (Sometimes we have an idea of what we want, but we need greater clarity to make it happen).
Once you know what's in your way, then it becomes easier to find a way through, around, over, or under whatever it is that’s preventing you from getting there.
But sometimes people don't know what the obstacle is, but they just know they'd like to be on the other side of it. So even waving the magic wand and being on the other side of that barrier, that obstacle, what would that be like?
Then, probably what's even more important, is to ask yourself,
"What's so great about achieving it and what difference will this make to you?"
So, for different purposes you can benefit from asking yourself the magic wand question and see how you can utilise it to help get yourself clarity.
If you could imagine waving a magic wand and achieving it, being at that point in time, having made the transformation and you're now a different place in your life, what difference would that make to you?
How would that feel?
And what's so great about that for you?
Spend a couple of moments, asking yourself and reflecting on the questions.
If you had a magic wand, what would you like to achieve?
What would you like to remove?
What would you like to change?
What difference would that make to you your life?
Get your pen and paper, your notebook, or journal and take some time to get your ideas and thought out of your head.
You can revisit this process as many times as you need to. Whenever you need to get clarity, or you want to change your mindset, this is a great way to help yourself discover and get clarity on what you want and what you can do next to make it happen.
And do remember what your mind believes you will achieve, so change your mindset and you can change your life and achieve the goals that you want.
Get in touch or leave me a comment to let me know if you could wave a magic wand, what you would like to accomplish
Go on you can do it, make it happen!
All the best

Hi I'm Christian Baker from Christian baker.net and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to help you to think differently, to develop your mindset so that you can believe in yourself more, take purposeful action, so that you can achieve the life that you want.
Now we've had some really turbulent interesting times in this last year. And one of the things that I think this has highlighted for many people, is how much we take for granted.
And I think it's causing people to have a bit of a reset.
So, today I just wanted you to think about, is there anything that you are taking for granted?
Are you taking life for granted?
Is there anyone you take for granted?
Is there anything you take for granted?
Often, it's not until something is taken away from us, or we're unable to do something anymore, that we actually realise how much we used to take it for granted and how much we now appreciate it.
If someone has an injury, or has health problems that means they can no longer do things that they enjoyed doing, or would like to do, and they now really miss it, has a new perspective for how much they used to take it for granted.
So, really the purpose of this episode is to get you to think about and look at your life, to look at the things and the people in your life and ask yourself, is there anything, or anyone that you take for granted?
And then ask yourself is anything you can do about that?
Or
What are you going to do about?
The opposite of taking things for granted is to show more appreciation and gratitude for the things that you have in your life.
This is an exercise, a strategy, that I encourage my clients to do. It's something anyone can start doing, regardless of their current circumstances.
You could make it part of your daily thinking routine. If nothing else, just allow yourself to reflect on the things you are grateful for, or you could write you gratitude down in a journal.
For more about journaling watch this video.
It's something you could get in the habit of doing at the end of every day, or as you're doing a daily walk/commute, or as you're just about to go to sleep at night, just ask yourself;
What am I grateful for?
What do I appreciate in my life?
Whether you do it in your thoughts, or in a journal, just spend more time training your mind to think about the good things in your life.
And if there's anyone that you would like to share your gratitude and appreciation with, let them know, there's no point keeping it to yourself, how will they know if you don't share it with them.
How will they know that you appreciate them, if you don't tell them?
How will they know that you're grateful for the things they do for you?
This reminds me of the quote;
"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." William Arthur Ward
So, think about the things and the people that you're grateful for and start expressing it more.
Reflect and express it in your mind, but also share it with anybody who would benefit from hearing how much you appreciate what they do for you.
Do this more and don't take everything for granted. I know we can get caught up in the busyness of life, that we can easily take so much for granted, but every now and again, just to have a word with yourself, take a couple of moments to look around, notice the people, the things, the life that you have and show more appreciation, show more gratitude, and enjoy your life as much as you can.
And if there is something that you'd like to change, remember you can change your mindset. You can change your focus and your thinking.
So, make today the first day that you make those purposeful changes that help you to enjoy and achieve the life that you want. And practicing gratitude is a fantastic way of starting that change in your mindset.
And remember what your mind believes you will achieve. So, think differently, believe yourself, take action, and you can achieve the life and the goals that you want.
Go on make it happen. Make the changes today and think about what you can do that your future self will thank you for!
All the best
