The Acorn is the podcast at Oak & Stream Psychotherapy Clinic. This podcast is for the life-long learner who is interested in self-help, improving their mindset, and personal growth. Most episodes are under 10 minutes long. However, the interview episodes are a bit longer. I want you to remember to pause, breathe, hope, and heal. In this episode I am interviewing Michael Fischhoff, a psychotherapist from Ontario, Canada who trains other therapists about suicide ideation.
Mike has a passion for social justice, mental wellness, and self-care. He draws upon his 12 years of working with people with trauma and is an educator within the mental health and addictions field to provide evidence-based treatments tailored to meet client and group needs. He has more than 15 years of experience working with children, youth, and their families through complex situations and scenarios.
In response to a conversation with a survivor of sex trafficking, in 2009, Mike started a work to help those caught in sex trafficking called Fight4Freedom. Through working with a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, they hope to identify and give support to individuals impacted by the sex industry and trafficking.
