  • How to be resilient and compete in your first Ironman race with Will Usher
In September 2016 I met with Will Usher in a Costa Coffee next to Guildford’s train station. I had no idea what to expect, I just knew this was the man who would be able to help me fulfil a dream I’ve had for around 8 years: to become an Ironman.

On meeting Will I was so excited and nervous. I was coming completely cold into every discipline: swimming, cycling and running - at this point I had never been open water swimmer, run more than 15km nor did I own a road bike.

As Will says in this conversation, I was a ‘very interesting project’.

Fast forward to September 30th 2017 at 10:44:03pm I crossed the finish line and became an Iron(wo)man, in just 13:55:20!

I won’t mention that Will did his in only 9:50:45, crossing the finish line at 6:17:43pm, finishing in the top 50 of his age group!

In this episode we cover what it was like competing in our very first Ironman - I wanted to be the happiest person, Will wanted to annihilate the course! As well as how Will prepared for the race, how to create a resilient race mindset and Will’s top tips if you’re looking to do you first Ironman!

Hope you have as much fun listening as we did competing! Stay Wild, Adelaide x

  • From Chronic Fatigue Syndrome to cross-country skiing across Svalbard with Adelaide
Had you told me 4 years ago, I would be cross country skiing across Svalbard in a team, pulling a sled of around 30/35kg, wild camping, discovering polar bear tracks and ringed seals along the way, I wouldn’t have believed you.

I came to be adventuring in the Arctic by fully recovering from 4 years of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME) and a a few other issues, reconnecting and cultivating my wild side, following my curiosity and persevering in the face of adversity.

In this special episode of The Lilly Wild Show I share with you my story of adventuring in Svalbard earlier this year, which is an island off the North of Norway, located in the Arctic.

I’ve used my diary, 9 hours of collected sound and time of reflection to put it together - see the pictures by going to the show notes: www.adelaidegoodeve.com/2017/08/02/adelaide-goodeve-svalbard-adventure

So I hope your seat belts are fastened and you’re ready to take off!

  • How to unleash your best self with the adventure mindset with Adelaide
In Season 1 I wanted to challenge the portrayal of adventure as purely an outdoor pursuit, a physical endurance challenge that takes you on a journey of self discovery, stretches your comfort zone, pushes your mind to the brink, and if we dip our toes into the Heroic Age of Exploration, putting your life on the line in the pursuit of exploration - although this still holds true for some modern day adventures.

I wanted to show you that we can create adventure in our ordinary everyday lives; at our computer screen, in a cafe, during our lunch break, at the gym and anywhere else you fancy!

Adventure isn’t just something we can buy or experience now and then.

You’ll discover in this episode that adventure is a mindset, a state of being that we can bring into the everyday, by practicing and developing the 3 key ingredients: Resilience, Intuition and Chunking.

These 3 ingredients have empowered and enabled some of the world’s most badass adventurers and forward thinking minds to unleash their best self, create a life they love and live more adventurously.

  • How to overcome your inner demons with Tegan Phillips
This is last the interview episode for Season 1, but do not fear I have 2 more amazing episodes whizzing to you very soon!

Why do negative thoughts float into our minds and sometimes stay on repeat? I’m not good enough. I don’t deserve this. I’m not beautiful. I can’t do this. They’re much more adventurous than I am, so I can’t do that.

None of the above is true and yet more often than not, we listen to these voices of doubt, fear, worry and anxiety, when we should be listening to confidence, adventure, happiness and love.

All of our beautiful and positive thoughts come from the guidance of our heart and gut, our true, whole self, that is much too often drowned out.

With me on the show today is an incredibly resilient adventuress, who is a cartoon adventure superstar. And I’m talking about none other than the awesome South African Tegan Phillips!

You never know where a few cartoons and a cycle touring bicycle competition can lead you, and for our guest today, it’s opened wide a whole new world to her, full of incredible opportunities and tough challenges.

Through cycling touring and making up and completing New Zealand’s longest triathlon (you know, just 10 iron mans in 25 days - how hard can it be?!), Tegan has discovered the power of herself.

And so can we - by applying the adventure mindset to our everyday life, which Tegan divulges in today’s show!

We also chat about how adventure was a turning point in Tegan’s life and cycle deeply into how we can change our relationship to fear. After all, it is just a purple potato!

For the last time on Season 1, I hope you enjoy this amazing conversation just as much as I enjoy producing it!

This week I sit down with Natalia Komis, adventure maiden, creative activator and business strategist.

Aligning Natalia’s values with her actions, Natalia embraces adventure, walking and creative processes daily, from journalling to painting.
