AIE NEWS    GO  SLOW

It’s that time again! No not to read zod’s funny flash cards, but it’s time for a new guildie of the moment! Everyone give three cheers to Takemikazuch! Some of the amazing things said about Take-my-zucchini are:

When I see a post by this member, it's usually one that makes me say, "this person understands AIE."

Every experience I've had with him has been positive. He doesn't even get mad when he has to tell people over and over again how to say his name.

Great guy, seems to have a good attitude, I'm looking forward to the many different butcherings of his name on the AIE podcast when he's announced as the GOTM.

And to say congrats, here’s a blast from the past with some special outtakes from Koltrane and the Raid Wrap-up..

[Play Koltrane Outtakes]

It’s Movie time for AIE! We have two different groups meeting up on December 15th for a screening of The Hobbit! If you are in the Southern California or Raleigh NC, then head on over to the meetup.com website and look for the Alea Iacta Est gaming community. Joining is free, and you can plan your own meetups easily through the site!

Patch 5.1, Landfall, has finally arrived in the  World of Warcraft! This patch includes numerous changes that impact pretty much everyone in game. Things like class balance and bug fixes are in there, but there have also been huge changes to the pet battling system, the new Item level upgrade system, the new brawler's guild that no one can seem to get into and we definitely shouldn’t be talking about, scenario changes, and too much more to list. For more info, check the patch notes on Battle.net. We have a link in the shownotes.

So Stu and Ayhood mentioned in the last show all about what was going on with the new Guild Dimension in RIFT. It looks like they’ve been rather busy getting ours all fancied up! Check out the full gallery for all the pics!

Star Wars Free to Play dropped just a few short weeks ago. And with the advent of this change, they’ve added Cartel Coins! There seems to be SO many things that people are buying with these coins, check out the So What Did You Get post in the AIE Old Republic forum for great ideas and to see what seem to be the hot items!

Grimbane and crew are trying to make The Secret World LESS of a secret to new players. They are trying to schedule and organize some early content nights to get people through content! On a personal note, I unfortunately don’t have the time or money to play more than one MMO anymore, but rest assured these are some of the most understanding and patient people you will EVER run with. AIE Through and Through.

Taxillus Transtellar and the affiliated corporations that make up AIES [Applied Integrated Enterprises in Space] in EVE Online has been war dec’d.  Capsuleers are urged to follow the following wartime protocols

[Play Clip sent to podcast]

And if that wasn’t enough space battling for you, AIEU and TEST have also started a new war Check out their thread in the  AIE Universal forum.

We’ve got a great show today, and we’d like to welcome special guests StupidGenius and Ayhood. How are you guys doing?

[Stu and Ay say Hi!]

We’ll be talking to them about AIE RIFT coming up, but first, let’s tackle the news...

AIE NEWS    GO  SLOW

The AIE World of Warcraft Craft Faire and Raffle were a huge success, and SO many prizes given out! A list has been posted on the forums. If you won a Pet, you should receive it in the mail, but the mounts are to be handed out in person. So make sure and check it to see if you won!

Talk about new content day! The young upstart of the group, Guild Wars 2, ALSO got a content patch dropping today! A new monster condition to ward against, the means to do so through infusions, and the first item rarity type: Ascended!

Because there aren’t NEARLY enough games to play right now.....are you interested in seeing what is going on with the Mechwarrior MMO? The Open Beta has started and AIE is exploring the idea of an official presence. The GURP Expedition process has started, so get in the game to see if it’s something you’d like to play with AIE!

AIE in The Secret World is turning out to not be a huge secret! Mantus on the forums has a thread talking about his recent experiences discussing the game with a Funcom community manager, who happens to have been a member of AIE! Though we don’t know the details and wish to respect her privacy, she still gave AIE a recent shoutout!

Speaking of The Secret World, Issue #4 is also dropping today! Sindrake has posted thread on the forums a link to all the news, and it Looks like Big Trouble in New York City! A beautiful theatre has also opened to explore!

Ventrillo has a new layout! We know that everyone loves our guild’s ventrillo services, but lately things have been a bit mixed up and confusing! The officers were finding a lot of the general common rooms were going unused, so we decided to clean the place up a bit, while making the boiler room a bit easier to find! For more discussion on the topic and a reminder of the rules check the forum thread.

We talk Guild Wars 2 costume brawls with Laniuis, pimp the Craft Fair, and we give away a hat! All that and more coming up right now. THIS is the A-I-E Podcast...

We’ve got a great show today, with special guests Lanius hanging out on deck to talk to us about Guild Wars 2, but first, the news...

[AIE NEWS BUMPER]

It’s that time again! No not for silly hats, but time for a new guildie of the moment! We would like to encourage all to give it up for Gallibond! Not only is this member active in the TOR community, but he’s also been a very helpful in Guild Wars 2 and in World of Warcraft! Don’t take my word for it, members had these great things to say about him:

He is always nice and helpful.  Love the events he puts together

All my interactions with him have been nothing but positive. I appreciate his dedication to the community.

He is very nice guy and he has even hosted a few guild events!

So three cheers for Gallibond! And remember if you would like to nominate a player for Guildie of the moment, send your officers an email at [email protected]!

We are happy to announce that Thunderclese proposed to Feire (Pronounced Fire) in game in real life at the same time on October 27th, in the starting zone where they met. To celebrate with all their online friends and AIE, they are now planning two weddings to occur both in game and out of game for 2013!

The craft fair is coming up this weekend in World of Warcraft! What’s that mean? Well it means that this weekend all AIE members can attend to level their profession skills free of charge. It’s not too late to help out though, and the craft fair can use your donations during this final push toward the event! If you would like to donate check the thread in the AIE Azeroth forums titled ‘Desperate needs for the craft fair’. And if you would like to make sure that you will get to the level you need to during the event, starting this year, the organizers have created a signup sheet.

Along with the Craft Faire, there is a COOP Run on Sunday evening in WoW, ra! After you’ve gotten all your skills up to 525, join the fray and show the Alliance who is boss! Priority will be given to level 90s, but if there is room they’ll be happy to include you!

And finally in craft fair news, the prizes in this year’s raffle are amazing! Not only are there mounts, such as the Vial of the Sands and the new Jewelcrafting mounts, but there are also tons of other amazing prizes! If you want to enter send Seriewa 100 gold with the subject line of ‘raffle’. Also make sure that if your name includes any unusual characters to send the alt codes for them, or you might just find yourself refunded. Tickets will be on sale until this Friday! And remember it can take up to an hour for mail to send, so don’t wait until the last minute.

In case you missed it, the notes from the last AIE Town Hall have been posted in the forums. This is a great summation of everything that has gone on over the past few months, in all the games and things that AIE is involved in.

We’re sure the fine folks talking about Guild Wars 2 today will be bringing this up, but there is a free trial with refer-a-friend coming soon! We’ll let Lanius fill us in later in the show on the details of such.

A gentle reminder about guild chat. The officers do their best to keep it a safe and fun place for everyone, but please let the officers handle any infractions.  If someone makes a mistake in guildchat and 40 people jump all over them in guildchat, or worse, in whispers,

We’ve got a great show today, with special guest Beefmaster, but first, the news...

AIE NEWS

We at the podcast hope everyone made it safe through the recent hurricane/superstorm. We saw a lot of community spirit on both the forums and on twitter

MMO champion and wowpedia are virus ridden...at least according to google. The two sites where we get a ton of info have been flagged by the search engine. No word yet on why, or if this is another false positive so be aware and be careful.

Considering making the jump to windows 8? We have a thread discussing it in the community forums. So far no one is reporting any major conflict with games, but we are still keeping our fingers crossed. If you would like to discuss the latest MS OS or if you would like to warn anyone about the problems you have experienced, head on over to the forums.

NaNoWriMo is here! As you may be aware, we have quite a few amatauer and professional writers amongst the members of AIE. Many of whom partake in the National Novel Writing Month challenge every year. NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel through the month of November. It doesn’t have to be any good, it just has to be 50,000 words, and hopefully a lot of fun. To learn more about NaNoWriMo, see nanowri.org. To chat with other members of AIE taking the NaNoWriMo challenge, see the NaNoWriMo thread in the AIE forums.

The Frogpants group on LoseIt is a great place for all AIE/Frogpants members to work on their weight loss goals. The membership there has so far been super supportive, and they currently have a weight loss challenge going on for the group as a whole to lose 1000 pounds before next year’s nerdtacular. It’s another great place for the community to band together and support each other in something outside our normal hobbies.

And with that, it’s time to welcome our guest this week, Beefmaster from AIE Steam!...

AIE NEWS    GO  SLOW

Both happy and sad news at the same time here. One of the leaders of COOP Tetrahedron had the RL take over their time, and we bid Streena a fond farewell. But in their place a new co-leader has emerged. You’ve seen her do countless other great things for AIE, and now Atriana is leading one of the COOP teams. Welcome her as we attack the alliance!

We have an AIE Gaming Community town hall scheduled for Friday October 26th at 10pm EST! What’s a town hall? Well it’s sort of a community wide update! Do you have questions about how things are going? Do you want to know what the various games are doing with all these expansions? Or do  you just want to know who is in charge? Well the Town hall is a great place to go for all this and more!

The new Lairs have already been attempted by our fine guilds on Secret World! They had some success with one of the first few summons, Voivode, and are planning more in subsequent weeks. Some images from the takedown, and make sure and check when the next Lair Nights are to get in on the action!

So I’m not sure WHAT goes on at these sorts of things, but apparently according to the forums that there is going to be an AIE Girls Night happening on Sunday at 8:30 server time! My big question, is this for female characters or female PLAYERS? ;)

Various Halloween Celebrations have started up in Guild Wars 2 as well, and Cakuu has collated them in this handy thread! The Mad King? Scavenger hunts? Sounds like they’ve spooled up a nice event for this time of year!

The Warcraft craft fair raffle is picking up steam with not one but TWO vial of the sands mounts available as prizes! Other prizes include a Jeweled onyx panther mount and some 30 day wow time codes! To enter send 100 gold to Seriewa with ‘raffle’ as the subject! Tickets will be on sale until friday November 9th! There’s no limit on how many you can buy, but if your character has an unusual letter that needs an alt code to spell correctly that must be provided!

Southern California guildies are meeting up for Lucha VaVOOM friday the 26th of october in LA. Yes, that’s right, Lucadore wresteling. Tickets to the event are required and are a bit on the pricey side at 45 dollars each! Details can be found at meetup.com

Speaking of meetups, the Phoenix Raid on the Yard House is happening this Sunday the 28th! So if you are in the Phoenix Az area, head on over to the Desert Ridge Yard House by 5:15! Once again, the details about the meetup are found on the meetup.com site!

And now, lets get some news from our AIE members Far Far away...

Senile explains what EVE is not.

What has Lanc been dealing with in EVE

Tiny Bubbles - Don Ho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTc26sf-cZg

Tiny bubbles are not making Lanc happy.  You would think that this wouldn’t be the case since generally bubbles in WoW are good.   But bubbles in EVE are bad! BAD! BAD! BAD!

Let me tell you a story so sit around and listen.

I have taken upon myself to learn how to get better at shooting people in the face.  So I bought a bunch of Rifters, parts and ammo and headed to Providence to fight in a well known section of...

We’ve got a great show today, with special guests Mantis and Sindrake from AIE The Secret World, but first, the news...

AIE NEWS

We have a New Guildie of the Moment: Najara aka SereneFury!! Members had these great things to say:

* Ready to help at at the drop of hat.

* Funny and respectful of other guildies.

* A great guildie, really active in turntable.fm too!

So three cheers for Najara! And if you know someone who makes the AIE gaming community just a bit of a happier place, send your officers a note at [email protected].

Halloween events have seemed to start to spin up in a variety of games. It looks like, from a few forum posts thus far, we have Secret World, SW:TOR, and World of Warcraft firing up. We’re just going to bet that there will be celebrations across the game universe! (well, except maybe EVE? ;) )

Someone, perhaps after Alludra’s Heart, has proposed it might be a fun idea to have an AIE Pet Battle Tournament! Check out the forums and give your input to shape the event!

Fall Craft Faire dates are looming closer and the forums are buzzing about it! Nov 10th and 11th are just around the corner, and there are a variety of posts pointing to goings on, including the upcoming raffle! One of the prizes is a jeweled onyx panther mount!

A friendly reminder for all the new people joining AIE due to all the new games and expansions hitting lately, pleeeease do not share the vent password with non-AIE folks. This is a free resource for all guildies to use, but we have to make sure the password is not shared out on public forums. Check UMAMI for the updated passwords when they change.

Remember guys, we have an AIE town hall meeting coming up on the 26th of October! This is your chance to find out what the AIE gaming community is up to in various games, and other fun stuff; like what the officers have been doing and what we are planning for the future!

RIFT’s 1.10 patch has been released! This pre-expansion patch revamped a lot of game play, including doing away with factions (well except for PVP!) so now Guardian races can join AIE! But that’s not all the patch has done, there are changes made to classes, professions, questing, zones - heck, you name it! Players who have let their accounts lapse can play for a free weekend coming up in November, so come and check it out!!

Also, the officers of AIE RIFT are starting up some new events! Weeklies on Wednesday nights and Raiding Hammerknell Fortress on Mondays (with allies). The fun starts on both nights at 7pm server(PDT)

And with that, let’s welcome Mantis/Grimbane(doesn’t matter) and Sindrake...

Tons of changes and additions to the game since last time we were on.  There have been 3 content updates including new missions and game mechanics.  Character creation has been expanded with a ton of new hair and face options, and there is a barber and plastic surgeon available in game to change your appearance for a price.  Lairs have also been revamped, more on that later.

Lords of Light Operation Team(s) (that’s raiding for the non-SWTOR community)

Lords of light is my ops group that runs on the Republic and Imperial side.

We run on Sunday and Wednesday nights

the Republic side we are doing Explosive Conflict 8 man hard mode. Once we have taken down Explosive conflict Hard Mode.  We will progress into Terror from Beyond Hard Mode.

Imp side Lord of Lights is doing 8 man Story Mode Terror from Beyond. Once we have taken that down we will progress straight into Hard Mode Explosive Conflict

We were at one time running just on the Republic side, but I want a way to make it where the op team did not get bored doing content over and over.

plus it lets us help out on the Imp side if a ops team needs bodies.

We also use TurnTable in all of our runs which helps to mix up the ops feel.

Talk about AIE in SWTOR

We would like to announce a new Guildie of the moment, Bôon. This member not only gives away hard earned justice points, by way of free shoes, but finds other ways to go out of his way to help guildies. Send your congrats to Bôon in game or on the forums.

He also has a character named zod! Be aware that the zod you may be talking to may be Boon in disguise!

Nerdtacular 2012 DVDs are now available! Get em while they’re hot! Now we’ll see if the money Ghomus tried to bribe Scott with the get rid of a certain section of the costume contest will prove to be sufficient!

AIE Steam: Borderlands 2 has launched! Actually it launched at midnight Monday night, and Beefmaster was really drumming up the hype machine to try and make this an active part of the AIE Steam library!

SWTOR: another server merge, and you get 12 character slots now.  But with a merge comes some name conflicts, like last time, so log in and check your names.

and with that, let’s talk to our guests, Stigg and Ralff!

AIE NEWS

Secret World's 2nd ‘issue' release hits tomorrow, Sept 12th! With a reduced team, it's nice to see that they're still trying as hard as they can to hit their monthly release targets! Group finder among other things included, so check it out soon!

The AIE Azeroth forums has a Jana Proudmore tides of war thread for those who have read and wish to discuss the book. So far the thread has been somewhat light on the spoilers, but if you don't want to know anything about this amazing book I'd suggest not peeking in!

AIE World of Warcraft has finished their great 6 month purge and would like to remind all members that they will go back to their three month inactive policy in October. That means that all characters who are inactive for 3 months or longer will be removed. If you find yourself suddenly outside the guild upon log in, just hop into the aielfo channel and your friendly officers will be happy to get you back in! Blizzard also decided that guild rep was too difficult to earn and buffed it, so you can earn back rep much more quickly!

An old thread which is still active from time to time, is the AIE Exercise Plan! I recently started up trying to get off my rear end and be more active, so started posting things as well. Its been interesting to find out what is motivating folks and what they're using as tools to get in shape!

Taxillus Transtellar is planning a roam Friday September 14th at 9pm Pacific time. They are asking all participants to bring a pvp micro warpdrive fitted frigate. They expect to die in fiery death explosions as Tuku and Lanctharus are leading this event.

Speaking of EVE, Dust 514 in beta and free to play on the Playstation 3! This FPS takes place in the EVE universe, allowing players to earn ISK and take part in battles on planet surfaces. Unfortunately this is a playstation exclusive game, so you have to have the console to take part. There's already some talk about it on the forums.

Rift is expecting it's big 1.1 patch tomorrow! What's that mean? Well it means factions are a thing of the past! Seriously! All races are now open to both factions! It is important to note that currently the AIE guild and UMAMI do not support Guardian characters, word on when and if AIE will be opening it's doors cross faction will be coming soon on the forums.

Storm legion, Rift's first expansion, will be released November 13th! The basic edition is only $39.99 with a collectors edition only $59.99. If you are new to rift and are thinking of joining in on the fun with the expansion you can pick either edition for only 10 dollars more to get the base game and 30 days of game time! And remember, if you buy a year of rift up front, you can get the expansion for free!

AIE Steam is sad to announce that TF2uesdays have been cut. With the influx of new games out there and Mists rolling around, attendance has been a little low. (Thanks for tuning into the podcast instead guys!)  Even so, don't miss out on your chance to battle with and against your favorite AIE'rs on TF@ Thursdays.

AIE steam also wants to he...
