AIE NEWS

We have a new guildie of the moment! Let's all give a big congrats to Ael Botlehewer! One of EvE's finest, he has had nothing but good things said about him! For example..

* This member has been very engaged since he joined the corp and has a great focus on getting people involved in corp-wide activities.

* He is a man with limited time and always willing to help! This man deserves all the praise we can give him.

* Have you seen the pretty, pretty desktop wallpapers he's made?

Head on over to the forums, or fly your own spreadsheet to give this member a big congratulations!

The Secret World is now offering free three day trials! If you have been curious about Funcom's newest MMO but hesitant about shelling out for another game, you can now get a short weekend trial! Head on over to the website and sign up to check it out! And if you're looking for people to play with, Black-Francis is organizing Secret World Dungeon Night! on Mondays at 8pm server time.  It's a chance to be able to take on some of the dungeons you haven't seen with a nice group of folks!

We have another officer Cornered! But ya know, in the nice way! Ask Syrene whatever you dare, and hope she dares to answer it! (Well you know, within reason!)  The thread is in the community section of the forums!

Pondera update! You remember how Salus got weekly updates and how we discussed it's growth and marveled about how fast it went? Thanks to the last patch XP caps are a thing of the past and Pondera is already level 22! This is only with 265 members! Thanks Blizz for the boost! It was level 6 last Tuesday.

City of heroes is done. Though AIE never officially branched out into the city of heroes/city of villains landscape, it's still sad to see an MMO shut down its servers. We hope the fine folks at Paragon land on their feet!

Random shoutout to Gallibond: Keep going! You can do it!

And with that, let's welcome this week's guest Tetsemi and Lanctharus

GAME NEWS

Tis you friendly neighborhood brony guild master Lanctharus here to illuminate all that is going on in Warcraft. (Big thanks for Tetsemi for jumping in at the last moment to cover for a late Lanctharus)

First things first!  We wanted to remind folks that if they have been taking a vacation from World of Warcraft and will be returning soon you better log in soon!  Players who have been AFK longer than 5 months will be removed from their guild's starting the end of September.  After that starting a month later we will be going back to removing players who have been inactive longer than 3 months.

The old paid app Auction House Remote is now available for GRATIS!  Buy and sell your stuff in the Auction House remotely and it even lets you participate in your co-guild's gchat.  Sorry there is no support for greenwall if you use this app so you will only be able to read and participate in only one co-guild's gchat.

In case you didn't notice or you don't read the forums (hint, hint).  We have two new WoW guild officers Dejara and Atriana.  Congratulations you two and may you two be able to do something that some of us don't get to do so much.  Actually play Warcraft.

AIE NEWS

Beefmaster being the crazy person he is, bought AIE a TF2 Mann-versus-Machines mode-capable server for us!

For those that missed our Remembrance Day event in WoW, or would like to relive the magical moment it was, StupidGenius has put together a video of the event. It’s about 30 minutes long and includes all of the remembrances from Scott, Randy, Stigg, and others, ending with the fireworks memorial.

It’s Official, AIE has ventured towards Guild Wars 2! Still in the planning phase, They have a shiny new subforum and are well on their way into settlement phase proper! Not bad for a game that is set to release next week!

In case you haven’t seen it, the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Cinematic Trailer was recently released, and as always, the cinematic production team at Blizzard really knocked it out of the park. It’s just amazing to watch. I can’t wait for them to do a full length movie.

The meetup.com site is filling up with member meetups! There is another raid on Chino Banditos happening in Phoenix Arizona in a mere two days, and the AIE members of Southern California are meeting up at strategicon on the 31st! And that’s not even mentioning all the AIE fun happening at Dragoncon! Want to stay in the loop? Sign up on our meetup.com site!

Diablo 3 just had a patch! You remember Diablo 3 right? That game that dominated everyone’s lives at launch! Well Blizzard has added a bunch of new improvements to the game such as increased drop rates, crafting changes, a better auction house, mob and class balancing, and something called paragon levels. Sounds like the whole game got an overhaul! For more info, check the diablo 3 site or the shownotes for the patch notes.

GERP is really gathering steam! And I’m not talking about the wonderful Figurehead of AIE and Frogpants! We have a letter of intent on the forums already working back towards a game which there have been quite a few folks in, but never an official AIE Presence. Lord of the Rings Online!

DragonCon is only 10 days away, and our “Extreme Guild Management” panel is officially on the schedule, however it’s been moved to Saturday at 8:30pm, which has been updated in the pocket program and mobile app. Ignore the big printed guide. We expect to be streaming it live over UStream, if they’ll let us. And we’re also still deciding on an official meetup time, though most of us will be hanging out in the board game room in the Hilton when not at other events. Keep your eyes out for the #aiedc twitter tag for live updates.

And speaking of guild expansions, the Imperium Lūdī section of the forums is hopping! If you want a specific game to be a part of AIE, or want to help with the organization of a new branch of this amazing gaming community, then head on over to the forums and let everyone know. Oh and in case you didn’t know, we all obey henry.

And with that, let’s talk to our “secret” guests...

Blizzard gets bonked, Rift gets Rift-ier, TF2 gets TF2-ier, and we talk with our fearless leader from a galaxy far far away. All that and more coming up right now. THIS is the A-I-E Podcast...

AIE NEWS

Blizzard has been hacked! It's not a major hack, but they are strongly suggesting that you change your password and update your phone's authenticator software as soon as you can. Passwords and emails seem to be part of the compromised data, Blizzard has said our billing info is safe, as are physical authenticators. More information can be found in their statement to players.

Pondera is open! AIE world of warcraft's 11th co guild is open for business! Thanks to our wonderful members and the projected influx of pandas, AIE warcraft needed another guild, bringing our total up to 11!

The great purging will begin soon! Come the end of August, if you haven't logged into your AIE warcraft toons in 5 months or more, they will be getting removed from the guild! To stay in all you have to do is log into your toons! Doesn't have to be long, but it resets the ‘last time logged in' counter.

There's a new TF2 mode, Mann vs. Machines! The war between Red and Blue has been suspended to take on an even greater enemy! This update includes new maps, modes, and of course the machines and their all new classes! These will invariably be added to the rotation on TFTuesdays and TFThursdays!

As part of the new Stormlegion expansion, Trion has revealed the new mage soul! (A soul is kind of like a ‘spec' in other games)! The Harbinger has been announced! This is a single target melee-range soul for all the mage-y folks out there. There is a lot more info (including a great short story) over on the Rift website.

Buy a year of RIFT, get the upcoming expansion, a new mount, titles, and all unearned veteran rewards for free! A year of Rift only costs $120 when you buy it through this special offer. Please note it is not a subscription, but is a one time purchase. For more details please check out the Rift stormlegion website.

For all you that live in Indiana, or will be traveling there for the GenCon Indianapolis convention this week, AIE member Healertrek, who sometimes goes by the nickname Dave Fitzgerald, will be presenting a seminar on game design on Saturday Aug 18th at 5pm, with an AIE meetup to follow immediately afterwards for drinks and game playing. To RSVP for the meetup, see his post on our AIE Meetup.com page.

As always, see our show notes for links to more information on all of the above. And with that, let's head into SWTOR news with our guest, Emperor Pelell!

SWTOR NEWS from Pelell:

Intro chit chat~ Running EC story mode with LoL version 2.0. New Ops leader Machia is super hardcore, instituting Turntable nights for our runs. Sunday night we ran to soundtracks and showtunes. On this coming Wednesday, it's one hit wonders. It seems to provide motivation, as well as offer a zone of comfort and humor that is definitely needed whilst wiping, learning the new fights. Still trying to get matching black/blue sabers, as well as getting geared up. Curse Apolas and his Canadian luck!

SWTOR AIE news:

New In-Game Event Started Today

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8x1NELWJh0k

We've launched into a new secret game, the Summer of Love is now happy memory, and we talk to a couple of RIFTers. All that and more coming up right now. THIS is the A-I-E Podcast...

AIE NEWS

The Summer of Love is over! We want to thank the event organizers, participants, and donors for such a wonderful summer of love! In case you missed an event check the forums; many players posted screenshots of the fun.

Speaking of the Summer of Love, those who attended the Remembrance Day ceremony in WoW will recall the excellent firework celebration headed up by Takemikazuch. Tak asked us to pass along his thanks to the people that contributed to the tribute, including the numerous guildies for their material contributions and wonderful comments and remarks; and to the four volunteers who took time out of their lives to help him fire them off: Kavaar, Rho, Corellon, and Kutasez [cut-a-says]!

New GOTM:  Mobilehunter!

Guildie Comment: I'd like to note Mobilehunter's generous donation of both her hearth cooldown and two chaos orbs I'd been carefully budgeting for.  My play time is limited and small things like this can go a very long way for a player like myself.

Sometimes it only takes one action to really stand out! If you would like to nominate someone for GOTM send an email to the officers! In the meantime head on over to the forums and give a big congrats to Moblilehunter.

This is a reminder to all returning members that they have a UMAMI account! Everyone that was in the guild before the move to UMAMI was set up with an account, so there is no need to make another one. Your username is based on one of your character names or your forum name. To find your username and/or reset your password, go to the password reset page using the e-mail address you used to apply to the guild originally. Making a new account just adds work for the officers and means you may be stuck at pleb status for a few months.

AIE World of Warcraft's great purge is beginning at the end of this month. In order to keep from running out of room, any characters that haven't logged in for over 5 months will be removed from the guild. If you have an inactive character that you want to make sure stays in the guild, just log onto them at least once before the end of the month.  Starting in October, the World of Warcraft team will be going back to the old policy of removing all characters that have been inactive for 3 months or more.

AIE's GERP system has yielded our first settled and active new game: The Secret World! Join the Templars, Dragons or Illuminati as they battle among themselves, or perhaps unite for the greater good now and again! AIE has branched into all 3 factions, because fortunately, the chat channels are cross faction. If you are playing on Arcadia, do a /chat join AIE  and make sure to check the forum for more details!

Plans for DragonCon are still underway! If you are going and haven't already stopped by the forums and the meetup.com site, then you are going to miss out on some great AIE Meetups! Also, check the MMO track schedule for the Extreme Guild Management panel led by our own AIE officers, and be sure to attend the MMO Party Saturday night. We're still planning a specific AIE meetup, but we've also decided we're going to just take over a table or two in the game room in the Hilton, so feel free to stop by there whenever you need to take a break.

AIE wow is also opening a new co-guild. that's right, you loved salus so much there's not room for pandas anymore! AIE Pondera will be opening this weekend on the 11th! we are full to bursting guys and need a new place for the pandas. If you want to join the fun of leveling another guild, let the officers know!

And with that, let's welcome this week's guests, Kephas and Stu!

It's time for the great WoW Pre-Panda Purplastic Purge, the Summer of Love is in full swing, and we get Steamed with Beefmaster and Wynne! All that and much more coming up right now. THIS is the AIE Podcast...

We have a release date! September 25th has been announced as the release date of the new WoW expansion, Mists of Pandarama! Pre-orders now available and for the first time ever there is a digital deluxe option which will get you the pet, the mount, and some nifty things for diablo 3 and starcraft!

AIE World of Warcraft would like to remind everyone that all toons that are inactive for 3 or more months will be purged out of the guild at the end of August. We took a break from g-kicks over the summer, but with MoP on the way we have to make room for all our new panda friends! Staying in the guild is quick and easy, just log into all of your guilded toons!

SWTOR has two new officers! Word has reached us from the high council and Emperor Pell-petine himself that we are all to extend a warm welcome to Cakku and Sema! Head on over to the forums and the announcement Two New SWTOR AIE Officers on Deck for your chance to offer congrats!

SWTOR has also announced what features will be available to members when it goes free to play this fall. Head on over to the website to see what they are offering to players without a subscription. More information about the change, including the release date and what ‘limitied access' actually entails will be coming to swtor.com soon!

Summer of love is in full swing. Visit the forums to find out what your favorite AIE branch is doing this week to celebrate! Events include running of the beef, various coop runs and remembrance day.

AIE member Allheals is compiling an ongoing thread about the various cooking, fishing, and pebble dailies of World of Warcraft. You can check the today's cooking/fishing/pebble dailies thread in case you are looking for that final elusive quest.

Only 30 days until DragonCon. We're currently planning to hold our guild meetup in the game room at the bottom of the Hilton, and probably just hang out there throughout the event. We'll be at the MMO Party on Saturday night, and we'll be leading a panel on Extreme Guild Management on Sunday night. See the DragonCon website for more information on all of these event, as well as the Meetup.com website. Hope to see you there.

And with that, let's welcome this week's guests Beefmaster and Wynne (WIN)...

This nomination is unique because it comes from outside AIE. yes folks, you can do that!!Vanflicke (80), guarded me (22) while I looted the trinket from Gurubashi.  Unbeknownst to him, I am one of the co-GMs of UP IN SMOKE on my main.  He represented your guild with excellence exemplary, and I would like to tell one of your officers of his actions.  He has raised my respect for him and his guild.  Remember guys, it's not only your behavior inside the guild that matters, but how you conduct yourself outside it too! And if you know anyone who should be nominated for GOTM please don't hesitate in sending the officers an email! In case you missed  the forums update, the new section of the forums is really hopping! The “Imperium Ludi” section is where people are hoping to get interest in an AIE Expansion plan for one game or another. So if you are curious about how AIE decides what games to branch out into or if you want to join in on the discussion of a new game's likelihood of joining AIE head on over!Tak's Announcement :"The Remembrance Day Fireworks Tribute is coming along nicely! Within the first week and a bit the materials coming in were outrageous, so outrageous I have had to stop accepting materials weeks early than the deadline I had posted. Within that time span, over 5300 fireworks have been crafted, which, divided up among a five an pyro team amounts to between 53 to 54 stacks of fireworks per team member, which is insane!Tak would like to thank those who helped donate material for their time and effort, for it is you people that are helping make this happen! He's still seeking volunteers to help him set these off on the evening of August 2nd during the in-game WoW memorial at 10pm server time. Two people have already submitted names and he's looking for more! Meetings and rehearsal dates for the volunteers will be upcoming. Check out the thread "Request for Help: AIE Remembrance Day Fireworks Tribute" for more info!"In Melbourne Austraila? Want to meet your fellow AIE'ers? Well AussieBlueMoon has the meetup for you! Plans for DragonCon 2012 are shaping up! If you're going to be at DragonCon, we'd love to see you there. Make sure to check both the Meetup.com site and the forums for updates on this and other events going on at DragonCon this year.

One of our own is now involved in a turf war....with one of our own?! What is this guild coming to? You heard it on ODN, it must be true! Weigh in on the battle on the forums in the thread ‘addressing the rumors between myself and Alludra' started by Old man Franks. Alludra would like to go on record saying ‘I have an army and you don't. Nyah!'

AIE raid on Chino Banditos is happening this Friday in Phoenix Arizona! If you happen to be in the area, consider dropping by at what is sure to be a memorable AIE meetup event! Details can be found in both the forums and in the meetup.com website.

World of Warcraft has released a new recruit a friend mount! The new Obsidian nightwing mount, has officially taken the place of the X-53 touring Rocket as the recruit a friend reward. Details about how to obtain the mount and images of it in action can be found on the world of warcraft website.

Pet battles are live on the beta! Now you can begin the testing on how best to train up your own personal army! The new in game system is a bit on the buggy side and is still new, but that's what betas are for! Log in and check it out if you are interested in giving this system a run! Steam itself is free, and has a host of free games available for all (including TF2), but right now is a great time to score that title you have been eyeing but could never quite afford.

Panda chatting, more Meetups, another giveaway, and we talk about AIE in a galaxy far, far, away. All that and more coming up right now. THIS is the AIE Podcast...

AIE NEWS

WoW Mist of Pandaria Beta Channel:  For those of you in the MoP beta, a channel has been set up to let you chat and play with other AIE players. The channel is “AIE”, so to join it, type /join aie when you log in with your beta character. This lets you enjoy the beta with your fellow AIE-ers, without the difficulties of setting up and managing a guild on the beta servers.

If you live in or near Phoenix, Arizona, there will be an AIE meetup at Chino Bandino on Friday, July 20th at 7pm. The Arizona crew is just going to hang out and have dinner at one of Arizona's best dives. And we have another AIE meetup coming up in Charlotte, North Carolina, This one will be at Dave & Buster's in Concord on Saturday, August 4 at 4:30 PM. They will start with a late afternoon meal, play some games, and then possibly see a movie at the mall. See the AIE group at Meetup.com or the forums for more details on these and other meetups.

And speaking of the forums, they have been redone! In an attempt to make them more accessible and user-friendly, the AIE forums have gotten an overhaul. The largest change is the new Imperium Ludi forums, where members can talk about new games that AIE might get involved with, what steps the officers take in the decision making process, and how you can help!

Rift Lite night! This Sunday, July 15th, starting at 1pm, join AIE in Rift on the Deepwood server for a fun guild event! New players are encouraged to download the game and join in, remember the game is free until level 20! RSVP in the AIE telara forums in the thread Rift Lite Night

It's official, AIE Salus is done leveling. The guild announced it was open on April 8th and hit level 25 on the 4th of July. We hit cap in only 87 days!! Don't be distressed though, there's still lots to do in Salus to help it get up to AIE's standard! Achievements like crittergeddon are still undone and the guild still doesn't have anyone with a legendary item and the required rep level in it! So if you want to help with the ongoing effort drop into AIELFO and ask for your transfer.

AIE member Allheals is compiling an ongoing thread about the various cooking, fishing, and pebble dailies of World of Warcraft. You can check the today's cooking/fishing/pebble dailies thread in case you are looking for that final elusive quest.

And finally, we have a planetside 2 beta key giveaway! That's right. Past events have included ferrying lower level guildies to flight paths, Running of the beef, and various scavenger hunts. If you have an idea for a summer of love event don't hesitate to get started! Start planning on ways to share the love today!

Steam is growing! That's right, beyond the normal TF2 Thursday (Starting at 6pm PST) we have some great steam updates! We have just crested 700 members in the group. That's right, there are over 700 aie'ers in our steam community! AIE steam also has a new twitter account, @AIE_Steam!  Here guildies can stay up to date on the Steam group, special deals in the store, and any updates on the TF2 server and tweet problems they may be having.

And with that, let's welcome this week's guests, Durus and Shojo!
