Rick Jensen has shaped the carving world as we know it as he is widely held as most responsible for the popularization of cottonwood bark carving in the United States. He is author of the book: "Illustrated Guide to Carving Tree bark" and featured contributor to multiple books including, "Carving Found Wood", "Carving a Niche in Northern Minnesota", and "A hand carved Christmas". In 2014 he was awarded Woodcarving Illustrated’s woodcarver of the year as his "whimsical home carvings" along with his books have infiltrated the world of carving.

Dr Strubler is a professor of human resource development at Oakland University, he worked as a mountaineering instructor and a social worker, developing wilderness experience programs for emotionally challenged youth. He has spent over a year of his life living outside. He is a writer and contributor for psychology today, Harvard business review, and writes on a whole host of topics including, interdependence, hyper-individualism, narcissism, and apprenticeships. He is winner of many awards including most recently in 2020 the Martin Luther king junior “dreamer award”. Beyond all of his accomplishments, he has been a mentor to me and a great friend. This conversations includes topics such as, how young people should determine if they should go to college, narcissism, and living in the wilderness. Enjoy!
