The American Junglist

It's always nice to come across people in our community that are genuine and friendly. This weeks guest is one of these awesome people. He is a seasoned  Drum & Bass and Jungle producer and DJ, crafting immersive soundscapes that fuse dancefloor energy with analog synth warmth and classic breaks. Producing Jungle and Drum and Bass since the early 2000s, his work is a rich blend of modern production techniques and timeless sonic elements. I first met this weeks guest maybe two years ago? I didn't know he was a DJ at first. I found out that night when I saw him rinse the place. Over the last two years I have seen him progress quite a bit. Not only on the decks but in the studio too.  He has a plan and he is sticking to it. I love to see the hustle. Marco works his ass off. The Phantom returns to Crook County with more rollers to comment crimes to. If you see him, say something. Protect your necks.

As much as I think I know about the people in our community, I am still often surprised to learn about DJ's that I should already know about. This weeks guest is one of these people. In fact it feels like I'm the only one that didn't know about this guy. He's damn good too. I see what all the fuss is about. Sorry I'm late guys. He's got a residency with 3D Productions in DC, He's on the Permagrin roster, and he's a lot of other DJ's favorite DJ. Representing central PA, please welcome Bennit. Links and tracklist below.

While this weeks guest has been on the show quite a few times now (I checked, this makes  4!), he hasn't done an official episode of the podcast yet. We're excited to finally have him on for one. Brian brings a hybrid approach to his sets: part selector, part storyteller. You can catch him weekly on Twitch and regular appearances on the Timeless Live Mixes, Drum and Bass Proper and Joanna O's Frequency Broadcast. He has also been featured at parties for Bassbunny Productions, Deli Fresh, as well as Subjective ENT. His next show he'll be playing in Richmond, VA opening for Joanna O, Ben Soundscape, and Collette Warren on March 13th. Representing Charlotte NC, please welcome Dub Science. I just love it when people throw parties with an aesthetic. The space itself is also a part of the experience. The art extends beyond the music and provides the raver with a night they won't soon forget. Rat Galactic throws a party like this called Refuge with some other talented humans and their attention to the little details is what makes it awesome in my opinion. Rat is a vital part of their dance music eco-system as a DJ too! Besides being resident at Refuge they also throw events under the name Galactic Sound & Magic; including an acid and electro party series called Nonplus. Deeply entrenched in the underground. Representing St. Petersburg Florida, please welcome Rat Galactic. Links and tracklist below.

One of the fun things about this show is zooming in on cities around the country and meeting the people behind the scenes that keep this music alive and relevant in their communities. Getting to celebrate the individuals that make our culture happen is rewarding af! Originally the JAXDNB mix series was going to be two weeks but after hearing about this weeks guest and learning how important he is to the local DNB scene, we had to include him. He's deeply involved in making JAXDNB happen and has been for a long time now. Chris is a selector and I love it when the DJ gets eclectic and digs deep in the crates to take the dancfloor on a journey.  Representing JAXDNB and Jacksonville Florida, please welcome XMSN. I try to learn as much as I can about each weeks guest to write their introduction. After speaking with his friends and seeing the warmth of his family I can confirm, everyone loves him! He's a damn sweetheart. While Brian raved in DC and Virginia for a period (I still can't believe we didn't meet each other when we were kids!), he's been a part of DNB communities all around the country. His friends hold in high regard and he is a DJ's DJ. Currently residing in St Augustine Florida and representing JAX DNB, please welcome Brian Bellas. Links and tracklist below.

For the next few weeks we  will get to talk about Jacksonville Drum n Bass! It's hard not to say a lot because Jax has such a vibrant DNB culture going back over 25 years now. This weeks guest is one of the hardest working people in his city making the culture happen and has been for a long time. His crew (JAX DNB) is an institution not only in Florida but the East Coast and abroad. Their influence can not be overstated. He is a fan of this music, a producer, DJ, and  a promoter. He lives this music and people like him are part of the fabric of our American Junglist culture.  Representing Jacksonville, FL please welcome Reflections.

For his second mix in this series, Jeff  recreates his winning set from the 2nd round of the Black Box Denver DNB battle.
