Jack Shepard is a former Marine Corps Counterintelligence Specialist with eight years of service, specializing in anti-terrorism and force protection. His military career took him around the world, where he gained expertise in counterintelligence operations (CI/HUMINT), Advanced Firearms Training, surveillance and counter-surveillance, and anti-terrorism force protection operations. After transitioning out of the military, Jack applied his skills as an industrial designer, spending over a decade creating innovative, user-focused products and programs. He later shifted his focus to firearms training, becoming a sought-after instructor and curriculum developer. As Senior Product Manager at the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), Jack now leads the development of comprehensive training programs that empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed for effective self-defense and personal protection. Jack’s influence extends beyond the classroom, shaping the future of firearms education and ensuring that people are better equipped to protect themselves and their families. He has spent his life carrying a firearm for the U.S. government. T.C. first served as an Army Infantry officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer, before leaving the Army to accept an appointment as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He spent the next 20 years working in all areas of investigative interest within the FBI, and served for several years as an instructor in the FBI’s Firearms Training Unit in Quantico, VA. T.C. holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, as well as a Masters of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. As a published writer, T.C. has written an innovative book on the topic of improving law enforcement deadly force training, as well as having written for several print magazines on the areas of law enforcement procedures, explosives, firearms and edged weapons. Among T.C.’s personal achievements, he has been awarded the U.S. Army’s highest peace-time award for heroism, the Soldier’s Medal. Besides finding, capturing and convicting a fugitive on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted list, T.C. has also been a successful competitive shooter for more than 20 years, earning a Master class certification from the International Defensive Pistol Association, winning numerous local, state and regional competitions along the way. He is now operating his own company, The Horus Group, LLC, which serves as a consultancy on firearms and training, as well as providing high-end, private firearms training for both armed professionals and citizens. Mike is also the co-host of The Best Defense, the Outdoor channels leading firearm instructional show. Previously, Mike was Chief Operating Officer, Director of Training and a Senior Instructor at the U.S. Shooting Academy in Tulsa, Ok. He was directly responsible for the development of all U.S.S.A. training programs. Prior to that as an employee of the Federal Government, Mike has served as the Branch Chief and Lead Instructor for the Firearms division with the Federal Air Marshal Service as well as a Senior Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). He has extensive formal training and experience in all phases of military and law enforcement training. He holds secondary MOS’s of Combat Engineer and Primary Marksmanship Instructor.
