Kṛṣṇa is always protecting us from Māyā. It's a matter of us taking advantage of it. Once, the devotee said, 'But Prabhupāda, Māyā is so strong.' Prabhupāda said, 'Māyā is not so strong. You're so weak. Just like when you keep yourself healthy through a good diet, exercise, and the right kind of attitude, then you don't fall sick.' Similarly, in devotional service, if we take full advantage of the process, which is what we're talking about, and we'll continue to talk about, then we avail ourselves to Kṛṣṇa's protection. I mean, the problem isn't that Kṛṣṇa is not protecting us or giving us intelligence. The problem is that I'm not listening and I'm not taking the help. That's the problem. But as we take to devotional service, Māyā will put obstacles and for an advancing devotee, those are, in one sense, not that we welcome obstacles necessarily, unless we're very advanced, but they do help to clarify our position.

Without being tested, we don't know what our situation is. We say 'unflinching devotional service' unless there's an opportunity to flinch. How are you going to know you're unflinching? And so the tests are there, and really, Māyā is there to winnow out those who are not serious about going back to Godhead. But she's a devotee, and, you know, she's doing her job.
