The Anime Freshmen Podcast

Skynet has returned, and this time with a rather insightful choice.

An anime called Ping Pong: The Animation that hardly has any ping pong matches.

Hear us out though.

Instead it deals with themes such as 'who am i?', 'where am I going?', talent vs hardwork, and so many other life questions.

It draws you in with the promise of being a sports anime and keeps you with its rallies of teenagers finding themselves as they explore the rough roads that come with adolescence via ping pong.

A coming of age story sprinkled with some ping pong on the side sounds crazy, and it is, but it works. Quite well too.

Bells and Whistles, Trumpets and Bankais, The Anime Freshmen are going to need a training montage soon because this is the 1st episode of our 5TH Season!!!

The journey's been long and at times arduous, but we've loved every minute and we're grateful to all those who have been with us, with a big Rasengan thank you to the Anime Freshmen Community.

And to show out for our 5th Season, as we do, our theme song went through The Hyperbolic Time Chamber and got an upgrade, courtesy of our day one brother The Keymaker.

FYI, Gerrd loves My Hero Academia so much he developed a Quirk mid-episode; the power to lose his voice and communicate via eye contact.

His superhero name, for now and forevermore, is Talk To Me Nice.

League of Villians membership soon come.

It's said that those from our neck of the woods have Main Character Sydrome.

Damn right we do, since the squad have joined the 100 episode club!

Call it multiple seasons, hosting our own events, collaborations, and to celebrate you know we had to run the Quiz Night back.

And for Quiz Night, our friendly neighbourhood don Lightskin Kage came and partook in what always leads to chaos.

Shoutout to Kage to joining us on such a special episode, but the Quiz Games get ruthless, and we love it.

How does one define sassy? and how sassy do you have to be to 'earn' the title?

Since its inception there have been many a sassy character in anime and we wanted to have a discussion about how sassy it has gotten and can get.

No mimosas on deck though.

John Connor must have failed his mission because Skynet is back once again, with an anime that defies description.

Premise: a bunch of girls in a town somewhere.

Characters: you're better off listening to this episode for more info (seriously)

Genre: comedy...slice of life...maybe?

All we know is that it's called Nichijou and we had to watch it because we are, after all, anime connoisseurs.

Plot twist: it has and had its moments. Curse you Skynet!!!
