May 21, 2024 Tortillas and Texas; Power pitching and Padres. Part TWO with MLB's Mike Adams
Part Two with MLB reliever Mike Adams. Mike's face (and voice) lights up when talking about his grandma's homemade tortillas and even when she ages and is barely able to make them, she somehow manages to. Grandma even sends her tortillas as a care package when Mike is on the road, which he shares with his teammates.
We then talk about the first annual Orlando Adams Memorial Golf Tournament, in memory of Mike's Dad. Some of the proceeds from the tournament will go toward establishing a scholarship for a deserving high school senior in Sinton TX. For information, email [email protected] or call Todd at 361-207-4377.

May 19, 2024 Tortillas and Texas; Power pitching and Padres- Part One with MLB's MIKE ADAMS
When you grow up in the Coastal Bend, it's not an easy path to the Majors. But MIKE ADAMS, with help from a determined father, his grandma's amazing homemade tortillas and natural athletic ability had a 10 year MLB career. Having pitched for the Brewers, Padres, Rangers and Phillies, Mike pitched to an incredible 2.48 lifetime ERA and an even more amazing 1.085 lifetime WHIP. He struck out 408 batters in his career while only walking 126. He also won a World Series game against the Cardinals. Now that's a pitcher with incredible control. But does he control the little white ball the same way? Is a man who spent his life putting the ball exactly where he wants it in MLB capable of doing the same on the golf course? Find out in Part One of our conversation with MLB's MIKE ADAMS on this week's episode of The Approach Shot.

May 12, 2024 Part One of our discussion with the GOAT of men's figure skating, Scott Hamilton is pure GOLD!
As if being men's figure skating's GOAT wasn't enough, we learned that Scott Hamilton is engaging, funny, driven, uplifting and so much more. His time on the ice certainly doesn't define this man who has had multiple brain cancer diagnoses, voluntarily had brain surgery, and who does so much for the cancer community; neither does cancer define him.
What makes Scott Hamilton such a joy is his tirelessly upbeat personality. He says "Every time something bad happened, I realized something good came from it".
This is an inspiring, entertaining and uplifting episode of The Approach Shot, and one we are very proud to bring to you. (in two parts).
This is Part One. Part Two will be available on Tuesday.

May 05, 2024 4x Pro Bowl Sack Master from the KC Chiefs, ART STILL takes over on this week's Part 1 of The Approach Shot
What happens when you bring in one of the great personalities and story tellers to be your guest?
ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!
Art Still takes over this episode of The Approach Shot with stories of football when a Defensive Player used to actually be able to hit a quarterback. He then talks of HIS fear of the little round white ball. And he makes John and Neal say "Still" 3 times...A LOT! (It feels a little like Beetlejuice around here). I'm telling you; we lost all control!
This is part one of the incredible fun discussion we had with ART STILL. (Part 2, which includes the six-pack comes out later this week).

April 28, 2024 Carolina Panthers' great JONATHAN STEWART stops running long enough to hang out with us on The Approach Shot
We talk with Carolina Panthers' great JONATHAN STEWART this week about why he chose Oregon, when the biggest schools were chasing him, all the way to his Pro Bowl selection and playing in the Super Bowl. Then we turn to Jonathan's golf game and how his competitive spirit continues chasing the little white ball.
A man of great faith, Jonathan gives us one of the funniest answers ever in the 6 pack when sked who is the king of the Stewart castle- he or his incredibly successful wife, Natalie.
This is a great listen!

April 21, 2024 Former UCLA Bruin and International Basketball star Travis Reed talks hoops and golf
UCLA Basketball star Travis Reed has made some tough decisions in his life including deciding to play overseas instead of the NBA. Of course, a lot of those decisions worked out well for the 6'8" power forward as he became the league MVP in Holland and the Baltic League Player of the Year.
These days, Travis talks about hoops and stays true to his roots as he can be heard on the "Bleav in UCLA" podcast, and on his "An Athlete's Journey" show on You Tube. There he can be seen interviewing "California Legends" that he has known throughout HIS journey.
Travis' love for and frustration with golf is something we can all relate to, even without being a hoops legend.

April 14, 2024 One of the greatest Play by Play voices of All Time, Thom Brennaman calls on The Approach Shot
There are only a handful of play by play voices that rise to the very top of their profession; Vin Scully, Jack Buck, Joe Buck, Marty Brennaman, Jon Miller, Vern Lundquist, Pat Summerall, and Jim Nantz. Our guest on this week's episode of The Approach Shot is in that group; Thom Brennman.
From broadcasting Cubs games opposite Harry Carey to NFL Games for Fox while always remembering his roots in Cincinnati, Brennaman is (simply put) one of the All-Time greats.
In August of 2020, Brennaman was fired from Fox when we was caught on a hot mic making an unfortunate anti-gay slur (which we do not condone) and immediately apologized, and has spent time since the incident consistently apologizing and insisting "that's not who he is", which many folks, including those in the LGBTQ+ community agree with.
We spend much of this episode celebrating his great career, and while we don't usually get into the controversial, Thom spends time discussing the incident, as well.
It's a very rewarding and intriguing episode of The Approach Shot.

April 07, 2024 From Super Bowl to Emmy Awards, Solomon Wilcots is the King of this week's episode of The Approach Shot
AFC Champion with the Cincinnati Bengals? Check.
CBS color commentator? Check
Emmy Award winning sideline reporter with Sunday Night Football? Check.
Passionate golfer? Check.
Great storyteller? You betcha!
Solomon Wilcots is the total package, whether on or off the field, and he is also a terrific story teller. He also handles the 6 pack with ease and humor. This episode doesn't feel like an interview, it feels like a chat with an old friend. Enjoy!
