Artist Michael Hayden joins me today from the Los Angeles, California area. Michael is an encaustic painter and shows his work on social media as well as several Southern California art galleries. He wants viewers to have their own connection with his work. Like so many arists, Michael advises wannabe artists to "be true to yourself."

To be successful, Michael believes artists must be social and attend openings and gallery and museum events. Even though he listens to classical music as he works, he often takes words from songs as titles for paintings.

Eileen Noonan is an artists living and working in San Francisco, California. Her work is emotional and energetic. She may start a painting with closed eyes, but when she opens them she begins to overwork so she closes them once again.

Eileen's muse is her son whom she lost several years ago. He's always with her and guiding her along. Her most difficult challenge is self-doubt. Eileen has stated on her website "I ride pure, raw, sometimes demanding, sometimes elusive, fluid energy. Every blank canvas is an opportunity to dissolve into the oneness, connect and bring back what wants to be felt, expressed, ultimately SEEN."

David Q. Sheldon is a professional artist living and working in Ashville, North Carolina. In addition to being a Fine Artist, Davis has been an Illustrator and a Children's Book Author.

1. Prior to being a full-time professional artist, David held a number of jobs, among them house painter.
2. For David, art has been a way to connect with other people, from a very early age.
3. A quote from David includes: "I like the idea of paintings that are never finished." He further stated that it frees him from being a perfectionist.
4. Advice... "Be true to yourself."

1. In addition to being a Poet, Joshua Rivkin is a writer, author, jounalist, teacher, and other related titles.
2. Josh is the author of "Chalk, The Art and Erasure of Cy Twombly."
3. Josh stated that one challenge of writing "Chalk" was to create a narrative when there wasn't a story.
4. "Chalk" has been called a "Book of Silences." According to Josh, the silences are where Twombly always feels a little bit out of reach."
