October 18, 202157. [Interview] REFRAMING anxiety, establishing BOUNDARIES & RECHARGING with self-care with Dr. Christine JehuOn this episode, we have a POWERFUL conversation with Dr. Christine Jehu, a sport psychologist and host of the Beyond the Couch podcast. Christine delivers insight into mental health WITHOUT the psychobabble, and does it with humor, expertise, and approachability. Not only does our conversation breakdown complex topics like anxiety, the stress cycle, trauma, setting boundaries, and self-care, but Christine also provides TANGIBLE and TACTICAL advice on how to reframe, cope with, and manage each of these important areas. She teaches about simple strategies we can implement in our lives such as creating a self-care "menu" and her iconic "Zero F**ks Given Method." This conversation already changed my life, I cannot wait to see the impact it will have on yours. October 04, 202155. NURSE RANT: Feeling alone as a new nurse? Let's change the culture and build SUPPORT into the structureToday's episode is a classic nurse rant that is tangential and all-over-the-place, but centers around new nurses not getting the support they need. I recently heard during a staff meeting that new nurses were having to take MORE patients (like 7-8 on the floor) and that their charge nurses were also in ratio, which basically equates to new nurses being thrown UNSAFE assignments, with no safety net nor any support. THIS IS NOT OKAY. Consider this episode a CALL-TO-ACTION and a pep talk that we need to make changes and fight for what is right. PLEASE reach out to me if you are struggling or if this episode resonated with you in any way. You are not alone. I would love to offer my support and any resources I can connect you with whenever I can.Follow along and join the Nursing Co-op community on Instagram @ashley_nursingcoop and on Facebook in The Nursing Co-op Huddle! This episode is intended to help you better understand the interventions used in a code blue, including CPR, defibrillation, and medications. THIS EPISODE IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR ACLS TRAINING! This is simply an overarching view to help you gain familiarity with the cardiac arrest algorithm, but ACLS is far more complex than our discussion on this episode.
