The Auburn Daily Network

Is Auburn surging for a 5-star? After a tough summer on the recruiting trail, landing a blue-chip prospect would be a massive momentum shift — and a key family connection could swing things in Auburn’s favor.

Off the field, Auburn continues to strengthen its recruiting operation with two big hires: a veteran college staffer and a former NFL executive. The pieces are being put in place… now it’s time to get to work.

Oh — and fall camp kicks off in just 6 days. Auburn needs it badly. Let’s ride.

The new NIL ruling officially recognizes collectives as legitimate businesses — and that could be a huge win for Auburn. While some schools disbanded or restructured their collectives, Auburn never backed off. Now, with the green light for collectives to do deals directly with players, Auburn may be in position to capitalize quickly.

Does this validate John Cohen’s patient approach, or does it expose missed opportunities? We dive into what this means for recruiting, NIL structure, and how Auburn can get out in front.

Plus… why does there always have to be a “boogeyman” for Auburn fans to blame when things go wrong?

Hugh Freeze’s confidence at SEC Media Days was impossible to miss — and honestly, it feels refreshingly different in the best way possible. This wasn’t false bravado — it was a coach who believes in his roster and is ready to prove something.

We also break down some of the dumbest questions asked during the week (there were some doozies) and call out the biggest losers of Media Days. Spoiler: not every coach handled the spotlight like Hugh did.

The media has spoken — Auburn is picked to finish 11th in the SEC, one spot lower than last year despite a much-improved roster. No more benefit of the doubt for Hugh Freeze. Auburn has to earn it now.

The SEC is as deep as ever, and the Tigers have a golden opportunity: they’ll face 4 teams picked higher and 4 teams picked lower in the preseason poll. The table is set — it’s time to prove Auburn belongs in the upper tier.

In this episode of The Barn Hoops Podcast, Jacob Hillman is joined by Brad Law as the two dive into the evolving landscape of college basketball, focusing on two major topics: the likely expansion of the NCAA Basketball Tournament and the potential shift to a 20-game SEC schedule. They explore the growing pressure from power conferences and media partners to increase tournament bids, weighing how this would impact mid-majors, competitiveness, and the integrity of March Madness. The conversation then shifts to the Southeastern Conference, where they believe a 20-game conference schedule would be good for the league and fans alike. The hosts analyze the implications for scheduling flexibility and the future of non-conference schedules. The episode paints a clear picture of how these changes could reshape the college basketball calendar.

Auburn adds a big piece — literally — with the commitment of offensive tackle Wilson Zierer. With OT being a major position of need and Zierer’s family ties (his brother played at Auburn), was he a must-have prospect for this class?

We break down what his addition means, why it could be the start of a preseason recruiting run, and who might be next on Auburn’s board as momentum starts to build.
