The Auburn Daily Network

Former Auburn QB Chris Todd joins the show to explain the HUGE changes inside Auburn Football under Alex Golesh. Todd discusses how former Auburn players are finally being welcomed back around the program, the impact Jeris McIntyre has made reconnecting Auburn alumni, and why this shift has been so important.

We also dive into what coaching transitions are really like for players and why Golesh may have a leg up heading into his first season. Plus, Todd relates his own transfer experience to Byrum Brown making the jump in competition at Auburn and what it takes for a quarterback to adjust to playing at the SEC level.

Byrum Brown has become Alex Golesh's blueprint for what leadership should look like at Auburn.

Brown has his entire day planned. He prepares the right way. He handles recovery, film and everything else that comes with being Auburn's quarterback. And perhaps most importantly, the younger quarterbacks are following him around like “little ducklings.”

But Golesh has acknowledged Auburn doesn't have that in every position room yet.

So where does Auburn already have it?

On today's First Call, we're looking at four players who appear to be establishing that standard.

Chas Nimrod has become the veteran voice in a talented but young receiver room. Jake Johnson gives Auburn's tight ends an experienced player who already understands this offense. Cole Best has been one of the most vocal leaders on the offensive line. And Cody Sigler may quietly be becoming the veteran younger defensive linemen gravitate toward.

But there are still questions.

Who becomes that player at running back? What about edge? Does Auburn have that established voice at corner?

That's part of what Golesh is trying to build in Year 1.

Eventually, the standard can't only come from Auburn's coaches.

It has to come from the locker room.

Auburn football is starting to develop a clear identity under Alex Golesh. Defensively, Chris Murray says the Tigers want to be “urgent, violent as hell,” while Auburn’s offense believes elite conditioning and tempo can wear opponents down from the opening drive. Bryson Washington makes a massive statement about DJ Durkin’s defense, Stanton Ramil explains why Auburn believes it can outlast opposing defenses, and Cody Sigler reveals a defensive lineman who has quietly been dominating fall camp. Plus, we look at several Auburn players who could be ready to make a major impact against Baylor.

Alex Golesh believes Auburn's offense is “light years ahead” of where his previous Year 1 offenses were at this point.

That's a massive statement with Baylor right around the corner.

Byrum Brown gives Auburn an obvious advantage because he already understands Golesh's system, while the Tigers have additional experience throughout the starting offense. The bigger question isn't whether Auburn's first group understands what it's doing.

It's what happens when Auburn has to reach into its depth.

On today's First Call, we're breaking down four major questions surrounding the Tigers offense before Week 1.

Can Sam Turner get healthy and solidify Auburn's receiver rotation before the Tigers have to rely heavily on their freshmen?

How does Auburn distribute touches between Jeremiah Cobb, Omar Mabson, Bryson Washington and a quarterback in Byrum Brown who could be one of the team's biggest rushing threats?

And when Auburn reaches the red zone, can this bigger, more physical offense finally finish drives instead of settling for field goals?

Fall camp gave us some clues.

Baylor gives us the first real answers.
