Welcome back to Coffee and Cornbread, your daily morning roundup of everything happening around The Barn.
Auburn's first fall scrimmage was described as "sloppy," but should Auburn fans actually be concerned? We break down why the biggest issues weren't about talent, but correctable mistakes involving communication, pre-snap execution, tackling, crowd noise and handling pressure situations.
With another scrimmage still ahead and time remaining before Week 1, Alex Golesh and his staff have an opportunity to identify these problems now instead of discovering them when the games actually count.
We also dive into the growing confidence surrounding Byrum Brown and Alex Golesh's offensive system. Would you trade Auburn's quarterback and scheme combination for many of the teams currently ranked inside the preseason Top 25?

Alex Golesh didn’t sugarcoat Auburn’s first fall scrimmage — and that’s exactly why Auburn fans should love what he had to say. Golesh called the day “sloppy” and admitted the Tigers didn’t always look like a veteran team, pointing specifically to pre-snap issues, crowd noise and consistency. Instead of ignoring those problems, Golesh is attacking them head-on, including admitting Auburn needs significantly more live tackling work before the season begins. We discuss why finding these issues now could be one of the best things to happen during Auburn fall camp. Plus, Auburn’s talented young wide receivers are officially being challenged to take a major step forward. Golesh says that group essentially has the next week to “grow up” before the Tigers need to be able to trust them on Saturdays. There’s plenty to clean up, but Auburn still has time to get it fixed before the 2026 college football season arrives.

Auburn's first major fall camp scrimmage is in the books, and while "sloppy" became one of the words of the weekend, there were still plenty of reasons for Auburn fans to be encouraged.
Byrum Brown provided one of the biggest highlights with a 60-yard touchdown run, giving us another reminder of the dual-threat ability he brings to Alex Golesh's offense. We break down why seeing the offense challenge DJ Durkin's highly regarded defense might actually be the best possible development for Auburn during fall camp.
We also discuss Alex McPherson reportedly getting the green light from Auburn's coaching staff to attempt field goals from beyond 60 yards and why his range could become a legitimate weapon in close SEC games.
