Dr. Kim discusses his training and where his approach to efficiency came from early in his career. He shared important pieces to building efficiency, which includes developing repeatable approaches to primary and revision TJA, safely moving to the outpatient setting, getting buy in from your institutional administration and, most importantly, developing a good team to surround you.

Jiranek, MD to discuss the development of the longitudinal arthritis bundled care model they have developed at Duke University. The program came from their experience in shorter episode-based bundles, and delivers surgical and non-surgical care for a year or as many as five years. The patients’ care in this bundle is managed by physical therapists overseeing all aspects of arthritis care and works on determining whether a patient is in need of surgery or not. In this episode of the Augment, host and Past Chair Dr. Cohen-Rosenblum, is joined by 3 of the 4 previous YAG Chairs, Dr. Lange, Dr. Culp and Dr. Frisch to discuss how the YAG was developed and became an official AAHKS committee, the need that it fills for young surgeons and how that has changed over the years. The past chairs share their experiences ensuring the committee survived infancy and now thrives with more than 900 members. Discussion includes how YAG can be a springboard to other AAHKS committees and appointments and engaging fellow members. They also provide tips for young surgeons to navigate getting into volunteer and arthroplasty practice opportunities.
