Every Western country is struggling with the subject of national identity, but in the United Kingdom, the discussion has become truly bizarre. Many progressives are now asserting that the English are not a real ethnicity and that anyone can be English. James Orr, associate professor at the University of Cambridge, joins me to discuss the nature of English identity and the future of nationalism in England.

Russell Kirk is regularly acknowledged as one of the most influential conservative intellectuals, but later in life, he was pushed out of the movement he helped to define. Kirk became unpopular due to his opposition to the neoconservative faction and the damage it had caused to the right wing. We'll be exploring the speech that got him canceled: "The Neoconservatives: An Endangered Species."

President Trump announced on Monday that he would be exercising his authority to federalize control of law enforcement in Washington, D.C. The move comes after the president threatened action in the wake of a brutal attack on a DOGE staffer while the young man attempted to defend his girlfriend during a carjacking. National Guard troops will supplement D.C. metro police in an effort to quell violent crime in the city. Americans are tired of hearing excuses for why the nation’s cities feel dirty and unsafe when we already know how to solve these problems. Crime is a policy choice, and Trump has taken decisive action with a promise to restore law and order to the nation’s capital.

Marty O'Donnell created the soundtrack for many childhoods as the composter on the first five Halo games. O'Donnell joins me to discuss how he became a composer, how he ended up in the video game industry, and how Gamergate started a political revolution. We also talk about the future of the gaming industry and why O'Donnell felt compelled to get involved in politics.

Last year the GOP attempted to pass a bill making it a violation of civil rights law for universities to express certain opinions on the state of Israel. That bill was defeated, but the Trump administration has continued to successfully push for this form of censorship on college campuses. The administration also recently attempted to sneak similar restrictions into disaster relief funding. Author and podcast host Scott Horton joins me to discuss the reason why the U.S. government is so enthusiastic about censoring its own citizens on behalf of a foreign nation.

In a world of sprawling global political entities, is there any room for the classic nation-state? Nationalism has been branded as hateful and outdated, but my guest, Yoram Hazony, author or "The Virtue of Nationalism," joins me to explain why he believes the nation-state is the ideal form of government to preserve the character of individual peoples across the globe. We also discuss why the current relationship between Israel and America may be unhealthy for both countries.

At a recent Panamerican Congress in Mexico City, Democratic Rep. Delia Ramirez of Illinois stood before attendees and declared in Spanish, “I’m a proud Guatemalan before I’m an American.” Ramirez, who sits on the House Homeland Security Committee, helps shape policies vital to the nation’s safety. Yet she openly and proudly identifies with another country — and in a foreign language, no less. Ramirez isn’t alone. She’s part of a growing class of politicians who treat their American citizenship as a formality. Many are first-generation immigrants. Ramirez isn’t even that. She was born to an illegal immigrant mother who crossed the border while pregnant and secured birthright citizenship for her daughter. On paper, Ramirez is American. In every other way, she is not.

The Trump administration faced serious backlash after a directive that would have denied disaster relief funding to American cities that decided to boycott the state of Israel. Public pressure forced the White House to backpedal, but the option to enforce this ban may still exist. We'll also discuss the use of artificial intelligence to "resurrect" dead loved ones and the dangers of digital necromancy.

Liberal democracy has come to dominate in the Western world, and many believe it to be the best system of government, but does that mean it is mandated by the Bible? Many Christians have conflated their political tradition with a biblical commandment. Pastor Chase Davis joins me to discuss what the Bible really says about the state and whether it demands that we assume one form of government or another.

While America began as an Anglo-Protestant nation, it has managed to assimilate new groups like the Germans and Irish over time. The process has been so effective that some now see the United States as a land of immigrants capable of adding any and every new arrival into its fold. But many groups are now building resilient enclaves inside the United States, in some cases building giant statues to foreign gods in the public square. Andrew Beck of Beck and Stone joins me to discuss the critical problem of immigration and assimilation in modern America.
